As much as people love to say Raiden sucks, he doesn-t, we have to stop thinking of him as a god, because even though he is one, he-s still just like any human when it comes to wisdom, intelligence and knowledge, he isn-t infinitely wise, he only caught brief glimpses into the future from his future self-he may be a god, but he-s not perfect
Had Liu Kang just thought it through, just considered what Raiden was saying, had he just calmed down and stopped letting his rage and grief control him, he could have survived
As for anyone saying Raiden still used his power to kill Liu Kang, THAT WAS AN ACCIDENT, Raiden intended to block the attack, NOT THROW IT BACK AT LIU KANG

I don't think anybody realizes Raiden was seeing past timelines and he confused them as his own future when it would switch from shao and raiden with different costumes.
MK11 when Raiden kept seeing different timelines of him and Liu Kang fighting and finally broke Fate.
It was all part ot Kronika's manipulation, I think the amulet undoing the cracking as well was her doing so everything moves toward her plan going forward.

Man I remember the immense feeling of dread I felt the first time I saw this cutscene. When Shao Khan is beating up Raiden and it mimics what happened in Armageddon, it really felt like it was over, that all was for NOTHING. I was convinced that we would be getting a 100% bad ending.
Truly, this was an amazing story mode for a fighting game. A shame the sequels never matched its greatness.

Wow Lui Kang went out with literally one weak projectile attack that he's taken millions of throughout the games like a complete jobber - how did he ever win a tournament if 2 seconds of electricity was enough to kill him? That was such a pathetic death scene, MK is horrible at writing their lore.

When Shao Kahn didnt sound like an absolute barbarian, but rather a somewhat charismatic but also evil and ruthless despot. MK11 didnt do Shao justice, there he just sounded like some dimwitted muscle. At least MK1 made him more coherent.

What I hated this whole series is that these are supposed to be gods. But they never seem to use their full power when fighting. If Raiden went Ham on shao Kahn there would be no way he would stand a chance. Fujin as well.

My headcanon is that Kronika is the one shattering the amulet to manipulate Raiden to do exactly as she wants. Shao Khan's death, the earthrealm warriors killed by Sindel, and most importantly Liu Kang's death.
