Seems another effort on Liu Kang's part to neutralize a malefactor; since Onaga was simply captured instead of poisoned and killed, his soul was never able to roam free and manipulate Shujinko or some other sap. Quite impressive that Shao's ancestors outright overpowered him, so hoping Onaga gets a time to shine once the chains break.

I do like that they did decide to bring back the deadly alliance in this game, but hot damn I hope he is the big bad in the next game I-m glad he was at least in this ending. But please let him be the big bad again! He is an amazing character and me and a lot of other people want him to be back in a game fully!

They could've AT LEAST teased Onaga as the after credits instead of what we got. Did they really expect us to be hype for another Havik when we already have one who jobbed out and got his face burned off fighting Scorpion 2 v1. They've been teaing this bastard since MKX and it's driving me nuts.

I think that Onaga is going to be the boss of the next game.
MK9 was a reimagining of Mk1-3.
MK X was a reimagining of MK4.
And this last game was a remake of Deadly Alliance. It is even reference as -a new Deadly Alliance. -
Therefore, I think MK13 will be based on Deception.

I dont know why people are complaining for Onaga not showing.
He needs proper build-up so the pay off would be great.
MK1 is basically deadly alliance. MK2 Would be deception so Onaga is the final boss.
MK3 would be Blaze. Building up Rain's redemption arc. Plus Taven and Daegon story.

Love the Set Up of Onaga being the Next Threat and if Reiko survives I predict he-ll get Multiple Scars that he will view it with Honor like a Screwed Up Version of How to Train Your Dragon.

Onaga should atleast have made an appearance in the actual story even if he wasn't the final boss. We can only hope Ed Boon is saving him for a potential DLC story expansion down the road.
