One thing to remember, is how well humans can detect differences side by side. Shooting a production with an inspire grade camera on the ground, and inserting bits of aerial footage from the mini with finished edit/grading. sound track etc, nobody will notice.
In the early days of digital movie making, Pros's were using off the shelf 35mm cameras in video mode for tight places shots, where a huge cameras just wouldn't work. $1000 camera inserts into $20K+ camera productions.
Of course we would love to shoot our tiny productions with mega budget gear, but shot/edit choices, great story, good sound, make for a good production, regardless of the gear. This little drone is remarkable for the price.

I am about to pull the trigger on buying the mini 2. It will be my first drone. It's the middle of winter here in Montreal and quite cold with p, entry of snow on the ground. Do you think I should wait until spring so I do t have to keep the batteries warm etc. Any experience in freezing cold weather. I am so excited about having a drone and I have been fighting that immaturity. I don't want to get it and fly it once and then it will sit in a closet for months. Funny how drone people can't stop saying Mavic. There is no mavic in the name of the mini.

I was a commercial drone operator for a couple of years and the inspire 2 was the best drone I ever flown. But it was being used for commercial projects which is overkill for someone who now just wants to make the odd small film. I now have the mini 2 after selling the inspire 2 and I'd say that its more than capable for the average drone operator that just wants to make small videos(although I do miss the follow me feature. :)

Holly shit, watching this on the. Mobile phone there is really not much difference.
Given that mini is x22 )cheaper is ridiculous how much you get.
Frankly for social media video shoots or private videos which are not demanding (e. g. good weather, enough light, etc ) you cannot justify fail mini on anything.
And it being under 250g! It's crazy, no license, no fuss.

The mini 2 looks better in most of these shots, other than an overblown sky, its sharper, easier to get going & in canada no license, no permissions; just go. Also the inspire 2 makes everything look WAY over anti aliased (not a camera term i know) but it looks like an older cheaper cam because of it & the mini's sharpness just makes it look like a higher budget production result.

What did you guys think of this format? Would you like to see more comparison vids like this in the future!
UPDATE: The inspire doesn't have full 360-degree obstacle avoidance. Only up, down, and forward - no backward or sideways. Also, the mini 2 has better image transmission. Thanks to
Anthony Keane for pointing this out!

You guys know that for movies we don't use the inspire with the X5 camera. We use octo drones with RED or arri. LoL The drone that I used on our last movie was about $120, 000 base package. If you want real hollywood movie quality its gonna cost you about $150, 000.
love,
your local 600 hollywood movie guy

i think the inspire 2 DJI drone is more interesting because with that every movie that are marvel and DC when the movie begins with the camera going to major cities like new york city for example so they use the drones for every city sequence scenes to be shot for a movie.

Powerful mini2! I have a mini2, it have already accompany with me from the south west of China to Hong Kong, it also shot some amazing view of our hometown from the sky, even my father and mother feel unbelievable that our hometown is only in one photo of Mini2.

Mini 2 actually looks better to me. I was torn between the Mini 2 and the Air 2 but after seeing this video I will go with the Mini 2 now that I see the Mini 2 is in fact sufficient enough as far as quality of shots.

I think the mini 2 looks better in most of the shots. Inspire is definitely not worth the 10k+ pricetag. Just my opinion. I also get you can edit more with the inspire but I still like the mini better.

If they ran some ND/PL filters on the Mini2 it would bring the sky back and give the video a natural motion blur because you will be able to bring the shutter speed down to teh 180 degree rule

I am absolutely bamboozled. The Inspire 2 looks absolutely TERRIBLE for $11k. so bad. What on earth did you guys do wrong? Did you shoot in 1080p or something? In a terrible Codec?

I must be in the minority of viewers here, but the difference between them is extremely obvious. The Mini is very magenta and the digital sharpening is through the roof.

Why are you comparing apples to oranges? The both grow on a tree but that does not make them the same. The drones both fly that is the only thing they have in common.

If you use sport mode on mavic mini, the glimbal does not turn far enough causing it to shake a little. But if you use c (cine mode) or p (normal mode) it wont shake.

are you sure you guys didnt just shoot in like 720? the resolution of the inspire looks like dog shit, otherwise it kills the mini in every way.
