Wow, it's gotta feel SURREAL to be a guest on a famous show while your former cell-mate from prison is ALSO a guest that night! I served 10 years in maximum security prison (1st deg homicide. Took out my father with a metal bat when I was a 19 year old girl. Saved my mom in the moment, and then snapped after a lifetime of torture and extreme abuse, some of which left scars on my body to this day. All my siblings had been locked up before me, for attempting to take him out, so all that was enough mitigating factors for the judge to give me 10 rather than Life, and I met some of the best people of my life in there. People I genuinely consider family, and dear friends. But the amount of trauma-bonding you go through with people in prison is immense, and just coming home in and of itself is a feeling like no other (been home 15 months after serving the full 10. I can only imagine how eerie it must feel to be a late night guest with your cell-mate, though. Talk about a woah, look at us now! We actually made it! type moment. Very cool!

Well, Josh has certainly lived a life! He is being a bit modest, RKL does indeed have real influence in the old school punk scene. But he is also underselling how. tough some parts of his childhood were. (from a previous interview) The group of guys that I grew up with, 36 of them are dead. 12 are in jail. 4 are in jail and also dead. I keep careful count, all 36 dead guys. I'm from a tough environment, ya know I'm 3 years younger (and also born in Feb, I don't recall even knowing 52 guys in all of my youth - but I am fairly certain that the majority of the ones I did know are still around somewheres (at least a few years ago when I last checked. Despite being the son of a showbiz dad (Jan Smithers (formerly) and Barbara Striseand are his step - mothers as well) with the stardom of James Brolin, Josh seems so easy to get along with - like he would be/could be your friend, if he weren't too cool for many of us to approach.

Dear Jimmy Kimmel and Team,
First, I want to say I’m a big fan of the show and everything you’ve built. As someone from San Bernardino, I’ve always rooted for you and loved seeing you represent LA.
However, I’ve noticed that compared to other late-night shows, like Jimmy Fallon’s, there’s an opportunity to elevate the audience experience. Fallon’s audience often leaves with autographs, albums, or other swag, and it creates an extra layer of excitement for viewers at home too. I think this is a chance for your show to step it up and remind everyone why LA leads the way.
If you’re open to fresh ideas, I’d love to pitch in. I have tons of creative concepts that could make the show even more engaging for audiencesboth in-studio and watching from home.
Thanks for everything you do, and a special shoutout to Guillermohe’s the best!
Best regards,
Miguel

My mom was in rehab with Brolin in the 90s in Prescott, AZ - after Goonies but before Diane Lane & No Country. She said he didn’t seem to take things seriously at the time, but was funny & friendly. My mom’s been sober for 30yrs & is a professional counselor now, but I still think it’s crazy that they were going thru rehab together!

Jimmy comes across as a bit of a moral majority character in this interview, and it's confusing given his party bubba early days. The interview seems stiff and uncomfortable from Jimmy's side of the desk. Love you Jimmy, but your guests need to feel like you are on their side. I'm glad that Josh took it in stride.

Tell them I helped singers, artists, authors against ai copyright free stuff. Also gave those companies idea about film studio vfx ai. Otherwise all your videos would have been replaced by copyright free. Not a beggar to get some award. Keep your awards and films to yourself

I'm amused and completely disconnected from the comments of dismay or shock. If you ever wonder if you have lived life or not being rattled by his stories should answer that question. You are living in a bubble. And your opinions are those of someone that doesn't know.
reply

Josh Brolin. Yeah. Not ringing a bell. I'm supposed to know who this old man is Some sort of actor/wrestler guy or something What would I know him from (I ask before googling, of course.
Why don't I recognize famous people anymore

I lived in Santa Barbara briefly as as young would-be(later) punk in the early 80s, knew RKL was a local band but moved away and never got to see them. Very cool to see Josh mention them. Their early records rip and are and pretty underrated.

Wow great seeing Josh Brolin on. I am getting the book. Also, thanks Jimmy for all the laughs showing how insane things are. I did send your message to every republican I know but it didn't help. Let's see what the future holds

I came to acid late, 17 years old. Came home late one night, I was trippin', and Mom was sitting in the kitchen waiting for me. Mom asked if I had been smoking Pot. I replied No Mom as the world swirled about me, good times1

7: 41 Please rewrite Tarzan with your mom as the female character.
It's a nonsense story that doesn't make sense.
Tarzan is a representation of a young and wild guy, who falls for a rich jerk

These two are only a year apart, and although I would definitely rather be in bed with the guest, I would prefer him and his foxiness in his No Country for Old Men days; what a fox he used to be!

I bought the book for my 16 yr old son who is an aspiring, and talented, actor in Australia.
The only people I’ve ever mooned have been the cops.
Expression of utter powerlessness and rage.

reply

14: 32 Yeah, that is Tarzan's way of thinking.
He is with the Gorilla he is just one of the Gorillas.
Tarzan has always felt fake and until this interview it's just never clicked why.

reply

Let's face it he had to write a book! He was obviously a colorful fellow when he was younger. He does not need a ghost writer. He is a natural reconteur either when writing or telling

We also did acid, LSD & Mushrooms picked fresh after school in the Suburbs of Vancouver Canada. And we started in the summer between grade 7-8 and yeah it was an awful lot of fun.

Josh Brolin is a great guest. I love watching him on the Colbert show. And Jimmy Kimmel is my favorite late night host. I felt the banter between them was a little testy.

Streisand has been organizing such cool parties for decades - with Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, Clint, Travolta and recently even Chris Martin and Dakota.
