Out of all the Sims games, the Sims 1 is the only one that did house parties correctly. The way it's set up allows you to just keep re-dialing the -throw party- option on the phone, and you can get an absurd number of sims on your lot, which makes it way more fun and chaotic. It's lame in later games because you can only invite sims you have relationships with, and in some cases there's a limit on how many sims you can invite (I remember trying to throw a big wedding party one time and the max number of sims I could invite was 8. And then not all of them show up and it just ends up being a bust.

I gave my original Sims collection (up to Vacation) to my sister for christmas once I got the Complete Collection and it was such a huge space hog since I had the big box releases for all of them. well, the ones that had big box releases anyway, can't even remember if House Party did or not, but Hot Date certainly didn't.
I kind of regret it because there are times when I kind of miss the earlier, simpler times. Might buy the Double Deluxe used and install it on another PC or something.

nice house. and nice party. maybe when sofia gets the complete collection of sims and has them to throw a party, then sofia can tell me how to throw great parties. well, i think you must have a lot of people at your house. you must have 3 catering tables with 3 caterers. 3 DJ booths with 3 people as DJ party music mixers. have 6 punch fountains. have at least 4 speakers. have 6 hot tubs. extend your pool. make sure the caterers make plenty of food for the party-goers.

Same here! Unfortunately, though, with all the games out nowadays I'd get bored the The Sims really quickly. I started playing The Sims when I was around 7, but Sims 2 was already out by then so I switched to that. Now since Sims 3 has been out everything is so complex like most video games and Sims 2 and The Sims seem so boring in comparison. I wish I could go back in time! The Sims and The Sims 2 were the good days: P!
Have fun with playing TS1!

I remember when Drew Carey showed up in my game the first time, I thought -Oh! That's neat. I wonder what celebrity will show up next time. - I didn't realize then that it would only be Drew Carey. Was he really the only celebrity lame enough to agree to have his likeness put into this game? It wouldn't be until the Superstar expansion before we would see a few more.

Man I could watch this game all night. There was something about it that made it very special even compared to the current games. The textures where really good on the objects. The sims themselves graphics were that great but if you zoom on the textures it was really good for its time.

No quick way to kill anyone? You kiddin'?
Invite everyone over and remove the doors when everyone is inside. Turn a radio on to disco station. Cover the floor with rugs corner to corner with as many as you can. Light some fireworks, and when it lands, POOF, Disco Inferno.

I totally agree! It would be so awesome if EA just made an expansion pack or stuff pack purely inspired by past Sims games. Sure, in one of the stuff packs it had some Sims 1 stuff (i think it was a heart bed and guitar, or something like that, but i reckon it's not nostalgic enough.

You are so right. I love The Sims games in all of their formats (other than some of the console ones) and I've just ordered all of the TS1 games - I can't wait to play them! Some people put too much emphasis on the graphis of a games as opposed to the simple joy that it brings: )
