Yeah I know, couldn't give the full dets in 500 characters or less maybe I was too excited: ) Your thoughts are literally the same as mine I made a short video on my thoughts (like 2 mins) but I basically said if this doesn't have ludicrous gibs and is therefore the most violent video-game ever made (including the sof series cos even they didn't have the detail ROTT had with the finger flipping the playing off when decapitated. then this new ROTT is gonna be a slight disappointment: .

No the A1200/A4000 can't display that many colors in platforms games, HAM8 (262144 colors) too slow nice to display images, Amiga uses 8bit bitmaps (256 colors) that can split in many images (layers) so called dual playfields at expense of color reduction per layer (2 x 4 bit), A1200 version of same game probably go whit cooper rainbow background instead of nice nice sky whit lightnings, instead modern games use 3d acceleration or competition AmigaONE/Sam4x0 computer can do that.

It's not hard to see that at all! Again, can't wait to get my hands on it. Also makes me want to continue working on the side-scrolling platformer I've been making with a few friends (also takes inspiration from Sonic, Zool, Rayman, Jim Power and others. Anyway, I'd love to see you review some of the Turrican games at some point, your reviews are seriously awesome. Can't praise them enough. Insightful, fun, and very well-supported. Most professional I've seen actually. ;)

I don't know why but it's just nice to see that I'm not the only American to know about the Turrican games on Amiga, C64, etc. I really need to get this; I am OBSESSED with the Turrican games, and this looks like another great tribute. I wonder how it'd stack up in comparison to projects like Hurrican and UnderEarth in my eyes (it looks at least on par with those. Even with all of this nerdy awesomeness, one must remember. -SHOOT OR DIE! AH HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAA! -

Well, the Turrican license is kind of messed up right now. Half of it belongs to Manfred Trenz now, the man who thought of the game to begin with (for the past decade or so, this half belonged to THQ) the other half belongs to Factor 5 (the primary developers of the series. Factor 5 was going to make a Turrican game for PSN after Lair was released. since Lair failed, their partnership with Sony was terminated and eventually they went bankrupt and closed down.

Well, Machinima wasn't the only one to announce it and they were just a mirror, but that's beside the point: )
The new ROTT looks awesome to me thus far. Really looks like the dev team is keeping that old ROTT feel while modernizing what it needs. As long as they have all the ludicrous gibs and DOG mode stuff and it plays decently I'll be happy! Such potential for great stuff, I really hope it's as good as it looks.

Just briefly looking at this vs the Neo Geo version, I think they raised the resolution to 640x480 and removed the palette restrictions for the DC. I'd say the X68k would be the only 16-bit computer with a shot at reproducing the NG version, assuming it had enough memory (or ran the game from hdd. Great review! There's something about these German-Japanophile games that reek of awesome.

You said this game is better than the classical amiga trilogy. In terms of gameplay it may be possible. But I think the music which is very good in quality and athmosphere lacks some sort of -earcatchiness-. The original ones didn't have this problem. Also the other big turrican clone with the name of hurrican didn't has this issue. If you haven't played that you should give it a try! :3

First level couldn't be more Turrican, not that that's a bad thing of course. As for the second, I never really played Turrican much so I don't know off hand. I know it's a great game but the abundance of power-ups put me off and it was the music and graphics I appreciated more than the gameplay. As for Gunlord, the same applies; love the style of the art too.

Of topic. Did you know that Machinima have officially announced within the last day, that we are getting a new Rise Of The Triad? I'd be interested in your take on the you tube video machinima put up, looks like it could be possibly work and be awesome! Anyway what are your thoughts on this?
