As Christmas inches ever closer, we've got one more lackluster holiday shooter to endure. Based on earlier Pie in the Sky GCS Engine games, Terror in Christmastown arms you with shotguns and candy canes and sends you on a quest to save Santa's lead elf

Gawd I hate GCS engine games, as far as playing them goes. But man if there's not a variety of amazingly weird games that got made with the engine over the course of almost a decade. For those not in the know, there's basically two versions of GCS: GCS for DOS and GCS for Windows. The latter, informally known as GCS 2, had a new 3D engine to take advantage of modern 3D accelerators, but if you thought the pie in the sky developers might've improved their craft from the DOS days you'd be wrong.
They still held onto the bad inventory system for some reason, the player controls and enemy hit detection actually got worse, and to top that off it's not very easy to play GCS 2 games in modern windows because for whatever reason the engine runs a bit too fast and won't let you easily climb ladders, which a ton of GCS 2 games happen to use.

No, but this month all the games I have seen here have not made me want to buy them.
I have found & played many great games because phreakindee, like Don't Starve, Against the Wall, Gas Guzzlers, The Neverhood, MDK. Not mention I revisited classics such as Jazz Jackrabbit, Carmageddon II, Re-Volt, Max Payne, Painkiller and so on.
Considering just how many awesome games he knows, why present some shit ones for Christmas?

Heh, I'm the same way in that I can't stand videos that rhyme the whole way through. I actually was just normally writing the script for this and the first couple sentences accidentally rhymed, so I figured I'd let them be. then put the rhyming out of its misery before it overstayed its welcome.

What I really like about the LGR reviews is the whole informative basis on which they're set - not just commentary on gameplay and graphics, but you get to see the story behind the development of each game. This is great!

At least that game used Wolfenstein 3D engine, so that isn't as bad as this one. WOW, I've just said, that 3D Super Noah Ass isn't as bad as this game. This isn't a compliment. It's my reaction towards this game.

Thank goodness you gave up on the rhyme. I've never watched some videos out there because the person making it thought it would be fun to do a whole one like that. I'm kind of allergic to it.

You should do some west-coast beat and rhyme it with some flow; ) dancing elven females in the background of polar mansion with big pools and bentley sleighs will do the rest of the job.

So, there's Rose's old Crosstime Saloon playthru for good Long Island representation, then there's LGR's Terror in Christmas Town review for poor Long Island representation. Good times.

Seems to be what you can expect from any kind of -do your own games- software. To make anything properly you need to know alot more than it lets on (like making games, graphics, and so on.

Then why'd you review MK1 and Far Cry 3?
Any way. my new mission in life is to crack down on Michael Zerbo and make him pay for this god awful atrocity of digital ass scrapings.
