I don't know how much of this -Island Paradise is laggy- is personal experience and how much is gathered from general opinion. Island Paradise, even though it has routing issues, runs great if you have Nraas Overwatch & ErrorTrap installed. I used to play it all the time on my old laptop (it was bought in 2010 at a rather cheap price at that time so no great performance there) along with LN, Seasons, Pets, WA and Gen. I even had script-modifying-mods that altered the behavior of everyone, not only my household; and lots of CC. Still could have open school in the world, all kinds of businesses & store content and play for multiple generations. All you need to do is to keep a close watch on your game folders, clean them up once in a while and enjoy the gameplay. Moreover, a version with those issues fixed can be found at MTS, although I never used it.

How I imagine you Scuba dive and Woohoo in a cave
(I have not real life experience with this)
Two breathing tanks per sim
Two regulators per sim (which is typical for real life scuba diving)
No exploring, just find the cave
. a cave in the Tropics where the water is warm enough for you to take your two piece suit off.
Go into the cave
Take off you trousers
Select one of you to take the other's second regulator (the thing you breathe through)
Make it quick
Keep an eye on the tank of the sim you are both having oxygen from
When finished, use the other sim's tanks to float to the surface.

The freezing happens because of all the badly built houses and households in the town, they have routing issues and sims that live there get stuck and it freezes your game.
All you have to do is go to edit town and delete the houses of the following households;
Icatcha, Scott, Los Amigos, Medina. If it still lags, delete the following as well, : The romantic, the Prince.
You can move the sims who lived there somewhere else or just delete them if you don-t care, but make sure their houses/households are deleted
Mine worked fine after this

The only down side is that Isla Paradiso is super, _super, _ laggy. I guess it-s lucky that it can be fixed in edit town, but we shouldn-t have to. There-s different fixes for different people, but for my game to play without freezing every 5 seconds I have to go and delete all the houseboats. Luckily I can still have a houseboat, but if there-s any other houseboat it totally freaks out. I think it-s a routing issue? But, even with all this, it-s still a cool expansion, I gotta admit.

The only way I can work in Base Game Isla Paradiso is basically use all the NRASS Mods, turn off routing for cars and boats, delete basically everyone except my four main families I make in CAS, unlock all the mystery islands with cheats (bummer, Unlock and delete all the locked lots, get rid of all but one houseboat, and teleport every where. -
Edit: It is worth it to me to do all this set up on top of all the regular set ups I do with NRASS.

Why does the Sims 4 Island Living feel so empty compared to this? The only thing I was excited about from that pack was going to the beach and open swimming, both features that should've been in the base game and shipped to every other Sims 4 world.

-sees people complaining about the lag, does research on how to fix the lag, buys it while being aware of it and finds out u can get it less laggier by evicting the scott & the houseboat households and also has the nrass overwatcher mod-

building in the sims 3 sucks as hell, but the gameplay is amazing and exploring every inches of the world is just. really fun!
tried to download the sims 3 and I can't bear the lag. the lag needs to be fixed ASAP or I'm going to lose my mind

Having grown up on Oahu (just over twice the size of Saint Lucia, I too feel some nostalgia at playing this. SL is definitely in my list of places I'd love to visit, along with about half of the Lesser Antilles.
Good times man.
