I can't believe Motorola's shatter proof phones aren't more popular,
I have my Z2 in my pocket while I work without any case, it bangs against things constantly, without issue.
I use a membrane screen protector to protect from scratches, and that's it, no bulky case, and I could drop kick this thing into a wall, I know because I did it while I was drunk, and won $100, still works fine.
Their much more expensive -work phone- didn't fare nearly as well.
I heard the Z3 phased out the shatterproof phone, I guess they didn't like customers not breaking them constantly and not needing to buy new ones every six months.
So, my unbreakable paradise is not long for this world.

I'm just about old enough to remember the days where if you wanted a mobile phone it was either Motorola, or something that barely worked. But here in Denmark Motorola phones more or less vanished completely at the end of the 1990s. Nokia and Ericsson completely dominated the market, along with a couple smaller local companies. The Razer phones never succeeded here - if you wanted a flip-phone you bought an Ericsson, if you wanted a brick you bought Nokia. By the time Motorola was in serious trouble, no one here knew they were still making phones since no one bothered to sell them.

Though worth little (as far as Ebay is concerned, I found a copy of the 1975 Motorola Microprocessor Manual book at a Goodwill for a whopping five dollars. It's in spectacular condition other than the cover -- which was was dark and burnt with holes -- all finished off with a 1970s -Meet The Cars- MTV advertisement/pamphlet inside. Also some program output of some sort on a long strip of paper.

It's funny how Motorola predated World War II by quite a bit seeing as they made a joke in the film Night at the Museum 2 about -Johnny Motorola- creating the phone company because of Ben Stiller's character accidentally handing his phone to him in the VJ day photo and then him reverse engineering it.

Motorola-s cell phone business was arguably most harmed by the typical Google strategy of buying a company only to fatten their IP and patent war chest and spit out the bones after they-d consumed the meat. But, like RIM/Blackberry, it was Motorola-s market to lose and boy did they lose it.

Today, Motorola makes a vast majority of public safety radios and infrastructure. There are many many things that you'd never even think of being Motorola but they are. Radio repeaters, trunking systems, 911 equipment, antennas, radio encryption

The popularity of Samsung Galaxy Android phones should have been the popularity of Motorola Android phones. They were always way better build-wise, and true to the greatness that is stock Android. Those Samsung Android skins are all trash.

I literally worked in the office that some of the software devs wrote the RAZR v3 OS in.
They built a new building in the early 2000s and my company moved in. For the better part of a decade, my office was their old office.
