It's too bad the original was pulled from sale, 'cause I kinda wanted to give the game a try but I'm not willing to pay well over $20 for what everybody who would know seems to say is an inferior version.
Lack of support for old mods, levelpacks, and sourceports is a huge deal-breaker for me too, 'cause those things are a whole load of fun to sift through whenever you come to an old game decades late. They are, in a way, your reward for having been made to wait for whatever reason. Without them. I guess I would prefer to keep waiting. :)
I've even checked on abandonware sites but they don't seem to count it as there is a version for sale even if that version's incompatible/incomplete. I suppose it's a grey area and I wouldn't fault them for wanting to play that safe.

I know I'm pretty late for this video, but even then, I'm pretty disappointed in this rerelease (and I'm a Duke Nukem fanboy, no less, the fact they had to take down The Megaton Edition was horrible, and that's just to force people to buy this cash-grab, I was already disappointed in Gearbox since Aliens: Colonial Marines, but the way they disgraced Duke's great name like this is awful, they sure are proud of themselves aren't they! Why couldn't they just give IP back to 3D Realms? Or sell them to other ACTUALLY COMPETENT, companies? Like Flying Wild Hog, PlatinumGames, id Software (which would a little ironic now that I think about it, THQ Nordic, or anyone better than Gearbox?

a lost chance. for me, they lost the chance to balance duke3d's multiplayer. they should incrase devastator rocket speed(too slow and useless in original duels)and incrase freezethrower projectile speed(also very low)and remove the damage falloff at every bounce. i play online duke3d and some weapons are balanced, except devastator and freezer that was bad made unfortunately. the new weapon (incinerator)is just a new crap weapon in multiplayer. gearbox did so bad this game that no one line fixing projectile speed of weapons was implemented. a shame, what a opportunity loss. any fan of duke3d would do it ten times better.

I've bought every edition of Duke Nukem 3D except this one for obvious reasons. As much as I still want to play the new episode, I also don't support shady tactics. Maybe if it goes on sale for like 75% but that's as low as I'll go and I've never bought a Duke Nukem game discounted and always paid full price.
I'm glad I bought Megaton when I did though since my other copies are long gone but unfortunately I wish I bought it on GOG instead of Steam. I didn't jump on the GOG train till 3 years or so ago but it's made making backup's so much easier and legal vs steam which I won't definitely discuss that.

I did like the commentary but as I say I didn't play it past the 2nd level
Also super annoyed that they removed the PSVITA/PS3 version with this one that is arguably worse

So im not the only one who disliked this game? Lol
First off, big fan of duke been playing since 1998
So i was real excited when i seen this.
But these new levels were horrible, spread out for no reason, same number of monsters
Mini bosses kill themselves
The new flamethrower gun was absolutly horrible
Maps lacked inspiration
8 new episodes, when there shouldve been at least 16, lacked hidden levels, and secrets
And the FINAL BOSS is GARBAGE takes 2 seconds to beat him. Im am so dissapointed in this game

i really want to play the new episode. having played duke 3d for years and literally played thousands of usermade maps. im really salty what gearbox did to the megaton edition. they should have added to the megaton edition perhaps got the folks over at duke nukem hrp/eduke and done a freaken mind blowing 20th ann edition (pretty much just add pro models. but no it was a blatent cash grab and an insult to fans. so pretty much i havent botherd with and maby never will bother with the world tour.

I really enjoyed this game. I remember playing the first level at a friend's house on their ps1 way back when but this was my first really dive into the game. Shit was kick ass. Controls buttery smooth too. I played Ion Fury directly before this and controls are night and day. Ion Fury has this acceleration thing when aiming that really throws me off. The auto aim is negligible and I'm a terrible shot. And almost every enemy is hit scan. Duke though? Had a blast all the way through.

On PC I find the mouse look feels a bit weird in this version like there is acceleration turned on.
A pretty decent fix for this is turning off the vsync through your GPU's control panel.
The business side of things pertaining to this release is most definitely a PR nightmare.
I waited for this version to be on sale for like around $3.
This version isn't horrible per say. but it sure is scummy and relatively underwhelming with all things considered.
