Taking a look at Frontier Development's theme park management sim, Planet Coaster! Is it the spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 fans wanted? Time to find out

I dropped like $130 on this game before I even played it. Cost was base game + all dlc packs minus the movie themed packs like ghost busters and back to the future. I played the hell out of Tycoon games when I was a kid and Roller Coaster Tycoon 1+2 where my favorite park sim games. I have only had this game for a few days and I have dumped over 30 hours into it so far and still have not done much asides from complete a few career scenarios and begin building my own park in sandbox mode. I can already tell by now that this was at its release and still is the best park sim on the market. Parkitecht would be somewhat of a competitor but it is still fairly new and planet coaster to me has a lot more content as well as looks a whole lot better than parkitecht does. Cant wait to put a lot more hours into this game

3 issues about this game make it almost unplayable to people like me.
1. GIVE ME CONTINOUS MY ROLLER COASTERS BASH YOUR BRAINS OUT GIVE ME SOME CONTINUOS ROLL!
2. HEARTLINING GIVE ME NOW PLEASR I NEED IY
3. WHY ARE PATHS SO UNREALISTIC
These issues can be solved. But they don't care. All they care about is fat animals sat behind a window being tortured because their living space is so small. I have no interest in that, while I love roller coasters, and will happily spend hours developing my Nemesis ripoff and carefully clipping trees underground to make it into bushes and placing rocks. If the roller coasters were not so tedious to make smooth.

The game isn't so much of a challenge as it is just a park logistics simulator. The big deal breaker for me is the fact that it doesn't matter if you have the ugliest setup spamming the same aesthetics around the rides, the goers still won't care, same goes for decorating the booths.
As a game it is mediocre. As a simulator, as something to show off different beautiful park designs to others, it is amazing and is a beautiful looking game the best looking park game I've ever seen.

This game and especially its community is what the Sims 4 should-ve been like. Most of the problems mentioned in this video has been improved upon by Frontier.
Frontier = What feedback do you have as we can improve on it. Also you want zoos and water parks as a DLC, how about a full zoo game to make it much more expansive. Most packs are only $10 but you don-t really have to buy them.
EA = We don-t care just give us your money

I honestly bought this and regretted it, the reliance on making your own stuff over providing a wide variety of themes was a huge letdown. I had a lot of fun to begin with too, creating and customising but after 4 or 5 custom builds and the realisation set in that I would have to do this with everything in the park, I quickly lost patience only playing for 3 or so hours.

As of today, Frontier have patched Planet Coaster with performance optimizations, more prebuilt rides/buildings to use, and an optional harder difficulty mode for challenge maps. That's three of my main complaints about the game talked about in my review, and they're already starting to address them. A promising future indeed: )

You should do a review on this game now, I just picked it up and wow it-s awesome. They have like 4 dlc now and it-s come to Xbox. Time seems to go by so fast when I play, Yesterday I played it and meant to put in about an hour and I ended up playing for over 4 hours lol. I find myself playing it every chance I can lol.

Personally I haven-t ever played Rctw, I got this game after after playing rct3 so personally I don-t have a problem with the track and path placement. I-ve already made a ton of smooth rides I never would-ve been able to make in rct3, but that-s just my opinion

The weird thing about Planet Coaster and other theme park sims is that rides like the Zipper and the Tilt a Whirl are unpredictable in real life, whereas in the game, the rides move in the same way regardless of how many times people have ridden them.
