It's an interesting environment, but if you're really interested in the VR aspect and playing games with other people online, I would say Bigscreen VR is more generally useful.
Plus, it's free.
Basically, if your computer can handle running a VR environment alongside it, (and nothing else gets in the way, such as HDCP when playing a bluray disk for instance, then you can literally run anything on your computer, AND stream the display to anyone else in the multiplayer environment.
Obviously you're going to need good internet upload speeds to stream video of your computer screen, especially at anything approaching a resolution.
But it's definitely more useful in general than the amount of setup that this requires, and then you can't even play games with your friends.

Now THIS is what would get me to buy into VR. Ultra-customizable chill virtual hangouts you can actually invite other people to? This right here is already on the cusp of something I'd buy and devote a lot of time and energy into, but it feels like before long there'll probably be even more customizable -- and easy to customize -- hangouts with more options, more co-players at once, and maybe even netplay for the games. Stuff like this would be even cooler IRL of course, but for those of us that aren't multi-millionaires this seems like a cool alternative.

This'll only get better and better, and since it is simply a front end, it'll get much easier in the future to pull assets from other VR sims that use the Unreal engine and stick them in this game. $20 is the asking price because Digital Cybercherries Ltd. has to keep the lights on in the office and their employees satisfied. Soon as the market dependency on copyright and labour goes away, artists will have a lot more free time to polish up this masterpiece and won't have to deal with the market pressure of selling this in order to stay alive.

Great review. I would love to have a go at this but I think it only really comes into it's own in VR. The major downsides are that it leaves you with a great deal of work to do yourself which is an extra hurdle to get over for what would be a nostalgic experience for most people. I've recently gotten into emulators and love the experience it delivers. The front ends are fantastic but require a lot of fiddling and frankly I can't be arsed to do that again with this programme especially when I don't have VR!

Serious question. this video is only 2 days old and it already has 37 dislikes. Who are these people? These 37 people found something to dislike about this video? Thats 37 people. out there somewhere. disliked a video about a very specific thing. That's 37 people that don't need to exist.

physical games seems to make much more sense than the videogames. I think they should focus on getting games like Sonic Blastman or Punch Mania: Hokuto No Ken working, I think the regular games would get old fast and you'd be back to playing with a regular controller soon

You can do most of the stuff you mentioned if you hack the config file. I got really into learning what this game could do but felt limited by the Mame support. It won't take regular Mame bios unless you package them yourself which I have not figured out.

if i knew how to program i would make something like this but for the movie theater where you load up a video file and then it takes you to a virtual movie theater and you can play in the lobby if you want to or go to the theater and watch your video.

I assume you can also customize the arcade cab inputs to like work with an actual arcade stick set up? might be a little janky to switch between the two with what is essentially a blindfold strapped to your face but hey it'd be swank af if you could.

Looks more user-friendly than Anarchy Arcade. It's free, but ti suffers from a bad interface and I think it might actually get worst if someone creative doesn't step in. Granted, it can be fixed with the mouse wheel, but it needs to be made in Unity.
