Catz was my very first video game, before playing that only experience I had on the computer was playing that Pinball game that comes already installed but Catz was definitely my first. I remember my mom sitting me on her lap at the computer as I played with my virtual cat & she'd help me out with stuff. I must of been around 5, maybe 6 at the time. I'd get each Catz game as they came out. well maybe not as they came out, I was a small child in the 90's who didn't know how to keep track of the release date of the games so whenever I went to Costco with my parents, I'd check out the section that had the PC games, you know the section I mean if you went to Costco in the 90's as a child, there were books on one side & a whole bunch of computer games on the other. I'd check the computer game side to see if there was a new Catz game there. Ultimately, I wanted to play Petz so I'd get Catz & my little sister got Dogz & we'd combine them & share a game. We had a rule to not mess with each other's pets but sometimes I'd find mine painted funny colors or wearing weird outfits so I knew she'd mess with them. I think Petz 4 was the one I poured most of my time into because I remember spending so much time in the kitchen, don't know why there of all places, trying to make my petz fall in love like I'd use the love potion & sit there for HOURS waiting. My first successful breed was between a persian & a tabby, it was a blue colored persian which I think is an alternate color you can get for it? My mom had a blue persian named Shadow, I named this cat after him & during this time, I do believe it was the early 2000's when I had my brown tabby named Ruby so I named a tabby in the game after her so weird little me bred two cats who looked like cats I had in real life that were named after the cats I had in real life together. I got this weird blue persian kitten with brown stripes all over it, I thought it was the coolest pet ever.

I wanted a kitten as a small child, but one of the relatives living in my home was allergic, so he got me Catz II for Christmas, I also played this on another family member's computer, since the demo could be copied and downloaded to a 3 & 1/2 floppy A disc. I've since lost the game, but nearly 2 decades later I found a copy of Petz4 or Petz5 (I can't remember which) and it still functions, in the Windows XP computer tower with windows 95 computer screen monitor. (It's nice to know those earlier desktop computers, can be combined with other computer parts. Like hooking up a screen or monitor, that was designed for an earlier computer tower, to a later one)

I started on the Petz 2 series, I reaaaly wanted the first program but never got it then Im pretty sure I begged my mom for the 2nd one when it came out. I loooved this series as a kid and would play it for hours and hours, and even got petz 3, 4, and 5. I had Babyz too, I could not get enough of the simulated goodness. After PF magic went bust though I lost all interest in this franchise. I loved how they had stuff online for free, and the community of modders around it as well, such a shame.

I had a demo as a kid and adored it, and I was soo jealous of my friend who had the full game but wouldn't let me play it. A few years later I got to play an aquaintances dogz 3 and fell even more in love, and then one day I'd managed to save enough to get my very own dogz 4. I still play it sometimes, tho I wish i could figure out how to get more breeds.
I had catz 5 for a bit but didn't care for the new mechanics of the world and ended up selling it.

About 10 years before these, I remember finding a pet app called Fishies. You loaded it and it simulated a fish tank. Press the T key, and the fish would change directions like you tapped the glass. F fed them, and pressing the space bar would send either a submarine or a SCUBA diver from one side of the screen to the other. It didn't show up correctly on the Apple green monochrome monitor, so my partner connected an unused portable color TV.

In 2010-2013 I played -Petz 5- mixed edition with cats and dogs together(This game works perfectly at Windows XP, but I played it at Windows 7. I still have some CDs with these games. This game was amazing! There was so many pets, locations, mini-games, players could create their own locations. And now this game is working very bad at new systems(I tried to play it at Windows 10, but graphics and game in general was glitching too much.

Oddballz was one of my most prized games in 4th grade. I even let a friend borrow the CD and install it on his computer because it was one of those rare games that didn't require a disc to be inserted in order to play. Modvark was my favorite one. I also downloaded all the free DLC, and I remember there being something like 9 or 10 pages of egg slots, despite only the first page +1 being used officially.

My aunt gave me her old computer when I was a kid to enjoy safe gaming in my room. When she turned on the computer she showed me her cats, and the black cat she had been raising. I NEVER was able to adopt a new cat cause I felt compelled to take care of her cat. We did eventually get petz 3 I believe, which was still made by PF and was much more interactive

I have indistinct memories of playing the original Dogz on my friend's PC. I spent far more time playing Dogz 2-5, with 2 and 3 being my favourites because they both felt like proper upgrades from the previous game. Gotta say though, that 'abandon' sound effect - that made me cringe now. If I'd heard it as a kid I would have cried.

I remember I accidentally created a password to open our dogz program and from that point my dad said we can't play with our dog anymore. 20+ years later I realized my computer programmer dad could easily have fixed said problem, he just didn't like how much time I spent with the virtual dog instead of the real one.
