I have these in black, but they're under the Boss branding in super nice condition (like the ones you showed. The Boss ones are really neat as they have a white rim going around the lip of the monitor (which you don't see in your image) which sets it apart from the later released black colored Roland branded ones. Just figured I'd add that. People don't seem to know the Boss ones are around, and can often be found for cheaper because sellers don't list them as Rolands, thus aren't found in searches. The prices of these have skyrocketed since this video was made, and the Rolands are generally about 150 or higher for a nice condition pair. I got my Boss set for 50 shipped because the seller didn't know what he had.

A few years ago, just before moving, I threw out the familys old pc spreakers. my mother was nagging about it, and they was not being used, i have brother 8 years older. So I think those speakers, judging by photos was bought in 1996 with familys windows 95 pc. realy awesome pc speaker, and they worked perfectly. and now im soon going to put together a windows 98 pc, already bujld a dos pc. they were Trust speakers, big triangle speakers with a button for something like 3d surround sound. yeah soon Ebay, still have some beige creative speaker from early 2000, they are really small and awesome for dos pc, but yeah does huge triangle trust speakers. oh regrets

These were rather popular in video edit suites, always seemed to see them bundled with Avid systems. They were tough as nails, plenty loud and you could put computer monitors and video monitors right up against them without distorting the video in the adjacent CRT. Even today I still see them pop up from time to time in someones edit system for all the reasons LGR explains here. However the magnetic shielding is far less of a concern now with LCD monitors all the rage these days.

I miss 90s PC speakers. I had a set of Trust speakers (no idea of the model, only thing I think I remember about them is they had a max rating of 300w) paired with a 500w Yamaha subwoofer that I loved for years.
After those I upgraded to a Creative Labs 7. 1 setup in the mid 2000s and a couple of years ago I grabbed the Logitech Z960 surround system. Not sure I'd want to go back to old PC speakers these days for sound quality but I do miss the aesthetic.

I wouldnt complain about more videos of this type. I still have the same pair of amplified speakers that I bought about 16 years ago.
Nothing fancy like your Rolands. Far from it in fact, just a $20 pair of Juster AC691N. They sound good enough to me, and the built in volume control knob was a big selling point as some games back then had a truly aggravating habit of changing the Win98 audio mixer settings.

As far as I know, Roland somewhat recently acquired V-Moda, a mainly headphone focused company that makes some nice af headphones and their newest product since the acquisition is a Bluetooth speaker which also doubles as a headphone amp due to one being built inside of it.
Dunno what that'll mean for Roland in the coming future but could be a sign of them returning again one way or another?

Sorry to say, but they sound like sh. :D Zero Base. this is just a fullrange mid speaker/tweeter. way overpriced. And I am not bashing these speakers. I am telling you because I know the difference to same priced other speakers. Good speakers for pc gaming are very hard to find, but it is absolute crucial part for gaming and multi media experience.

I honestly luv those speakers, now i have only one of these great speakers since somehow we lost a box full of all the best vintage pc gear i have collected over the years. I loved those speakers and was so proud of them. Anyway if anyone has an extra one or knows where to buy just one. please please let me know. Thanks so much!

Anyone know about modding the poor sound of the MT-32? People did hate the MT-32 when it did come to studio level sound however there was a mod to fix this. Anyone know how this was done and how i could get this done today? Do you know about this LGR you can find ads about it and people talking about this back then.

Never used anything Roland myself but for me the best speakers I've ever used for a PC were ones from Boston Acoustics, I believe the model is BA635 I think. Has a powered subwoofer and two satellite speakers all linked though the subwoofer. Aww man, I loved that Gateway computer from circa 1999.
