I think out of all the innovations that came from the mobile computing boom, adoption of solid state flash storage really had the biggest impact on design.
It allowed mobile devices to be much thinner, shock resistant, and most importantly, able to read and write large amounts of data significantly faster and without the noise.
Just look at the huge jump in design from the original HDD iPod models to the first iPod Nano. Overnight, mobile devices went from chunky humming bricks to thin silent slabs.

I wonder if this thing would handle STALKER SoC, even on the lowest settings. I have an Inspiron 1525 that i have just about maxed out in terms of upgrades (C2D T9300 and 6gb of ram) and even that barely runs it on lowest settings, and once you get to some of the more intense areas you get around 5fps and unfortunately you have to progress through one of these areas at the beginning of the game so it's not really doable. If a pocket pc like this could run it I'd really be surprised

It's disgusting to me how surprisingly non existent slide out physical keyboards are in phone now. I hate typing on a touch screen! I used to be able to type without looking and now I have to take my eyes off the road while I drive with my knee so I can properly shitpost. :/ Maybe il make a Kickstarter to bring em back and never release the product and then disappear like any other reasonable millennial would.

My brother in law worked for OQO back when they were around, and one time he showed me a prototype unit (before the release) and I was pretty impressed by what it could do. He mentioned their target install base would be military field operations where portability and ruggedness were required (looks like the military thing never happened for OQO.

Such an awesome form factor. this is what I wanted when I kept hearing of Windows on smartphones. I wanted to be able to fully utilize all functions of Windows from a system administrator perspective from a pocket PC. This never really happened. Sure we have tablet PC's now like the Surface, and they're good, but can't fit them in my pocket.

A friend of mine had one and was super excited for the emulation possibilities. At the time, the PSP was the best emulation power house us then kids could get our hands on. We knew the potential of loading it with project 64 for n64 emulation since even with sound turned off, n64 was still a rough experience on the PSP.

Windows 11 reportedly runs very well on smartphone hardware made for Android, although it loses nearly all wireless networking capabilities (but not much else.
If only Microsoft would make and polish an official release of it for smartphone hardware, maybe we would see a resurgence in ultra-mobile PCs.

It might have ran better if you installed Windows XP or at least updated Windows Vista to service pack 2 since rtm had lots of performance issues which were improved in service pack 2. Although the hard drive should DEFINITELY be replaced with an ssd or another hdd at least before attempting that.

I have a model 01+, the pen docks inside and it runs on win98 so is a nice portable DOS box. I just wish the keyboard was backlit. I always wanted a model 02 but couldn't afford one when it was relevant, now it would be only for the novelty.

Steve Jobs and Apple released the very first iPhone at the same year 2007. And we all know why Microsoft failed on smart phones market later on. This is another totally wrong branch of technology tree in the history of mobile devices.
