I feel like this pack is proof no moreso than ever before that the devs are reaching the limit of what is possible with how their codebase is at the studio. Perhaps the engine is poorly optimized (Like you said, its 5 years old) or something of the sort.
I think if they aren't looking at something like Cities Skylines 2 then their playerbase is going to start fading, and only being kept around for a few days at a time each time one of these DLCs drops. I myself have a pretty powerful computer and with the 81 tiles mod it becomes impossible to make an actual city and have to optimize it when the car limit stretches traffic paper thin. Its almost like god mode to be honest.
Colossal Order I think could absolutely make something that takes better advantage of modern, more efficient hardware to make a game that is expandable PAST THEIR FRAMEWORK. Like, why is it nessecary to put cars into an array in the first place? That seems like an arbitrary limitation to me.

I think it might be possible to create an invisible object and and set it to be a heli stop. Then with some use of mods you might be able to position it at the top of buildings.
A nice use I've found for the overground metro station is to have it integrated into a large office building. The CO office works well for this as the model contains a recess between two towers. Again, modding required - Invisible Roads and MoveIt. Speaking of metros - take care with your old cities. The metro trains are now longer and so are the stations, so you'll need to do some replacing. They'll still work as is, but you can get trains backing up.

The 10 month gap between Campus and Sunset Harbor really shows to me that Cities Skylines has hit the end of its life. Especially considering how little SH added compare to the 3 DLCs that came before it. The game was built on a sub-par engine (No multithreading on a game like this is suicide, and they're clearly tapped out on ideas. IF they make a Cities Skylines 2, hopefully they fix some of their mistakes here, and build it on a new engine. Imagine the Districts system already in place WITH inter-city play like Simcity 4. THAT would be insanely cool.

Just had this background download for free as part of my Mayor's edition, and wondered whether to quit playing Witcher 3 DLC in favour of this because this update is so fantastic. Based on your review I'll wait until I finish before firing up Cities again, although the desert map looked interesting. Thanks again for yet another of your informative reviews delivered in that lovely welcoming toned voice of yours. I imagine that even if you shouted at someone they'd think you're complimenting them, lol. Thanks again.

Fair enough review. Thanks. To bee honest I was waiting for you and Biffa to review it. But since Biffa is sponsored, one has to take it with some salt.
I like your point regarding water scooters and marina. Really true. Also working on some out of the city boundary interaction would have been nice as well. And trolly bus as aesthetic thing is also quite true. Perhaps less noise pollution, but that's all.

You cannot expect to see other stuff happening outside the city at the moment, let me explain some limitation, the more you add stuff to the game, the more cpu resources everybody needs to play the game, this is good as it is, to leave things to your imagination, what i would like to see are new building themes, like the creator pack expansion, since i dont like downloading mods.

Why on earth are you micro-managing where each individual fishing boat goes? Makes as little sense as micro-managing taxis. They should just have an AI of their own that made them drive around like fishing boats and return to port.
Also, if this is just a mish-mash of stuff for other DLCs, they could've just updated those DLCs, surely.

Helicopters are poorly implemented. They should add it instead of the GA airport and make heli tours for tourists because how many people can actually afford to use helicopter for travelling to friends or to a shop and in CSL there is like 200 people waiting at each helicopter -station-: D total BS even for -game-.

It would be nice to finally fix performance issues of game. Seriously. Rtx 2070 super not even in half use and ryzen 7 3700x not even sweating with supply of 32gb of ddr4 memory. Yet in intense high density city you got ridiciuolus 20 fps on high detail. Whats the point of having high end pc anyway.

After watching this video i can see why you did not get an early version to share with the public. You are too honest. Companies want content creators that will help with sales. This review made me realize i can just use player created mods to do all of this and do it better. Will save my money.
