Heading back to 1989 to check out this edutainment game classic. Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego off to this time? That's right: TIME. Now she and the V. I. L. E. gang are messing with world history, so hop in your Chronoskimmer and catch them in time, Time Cadets!

The council assigned a volunteer to get food and medicine for us during the start of the pandemic and she and her flatmate have become our friends over the past year. They just came over for a doorstep chat and were talking about how much they loved Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? and wished they could play it again. Being an avid viewing of LGR for so many years, I knew exactly where to find it. You've just made my two new friends extremely happy. Thank you! :)

Aw man, anyone else notice that A. C. M. E. HQ is set in San Francisco circa 2020?
Here is my theory: Carmen successfully altered the timeliness where A. C. M. E. existed and that some action A. C. M. E. took between its foundation and today prevented the horrible mess we are in now, allowing for an albeit declining A. C. M. E. to still exist in this time line.
Something something 5G, something something chemtrails.

I played the 1997 version of this game, -Carmen Sandiego's Great Chase through Time, - as a fourth grader almost 18 years ago. It was one of the most fun games I've ever played in my life, and I learned so much about world histories that were not covered in my school's curriculum, in particular East Asian history. I think they should reboot it, it's just a fun game in general that kids of all generations would enjoy

I had the win 95 remake as a kid. I remember playing it at my local public library, they-d have a whole bunch of CD-ROM software and PCs to try it out. My mom thought it was pretty cool I guess and bought it later on. I pretty distinctly remember one part taking place in ancient Egypt, but that-s about all that comes to mind. Would love to see an LGR retrospective on that version too

I've played a Carmen Sandiego game when I was a kid, but I can't remember which one. I KNOW it wasn't this one, and I remember it featuring Europe, so it had to be either Where in the World or Where in Europe. But I really don't remember much from it, and besides, it was a friend's copy, so I don't even have it anymore nor can I check with them since I've moved and lost contact and all.

PLus I still say the era between 1888 and 1999 was as close to the greatest era in human history the world ever got. Sure lotta things were bad in any decade, but at the least, there was so much that still mattered and was so innovative. Plus, things seem better looking back on ones childhood. usually. And I would have SMASHED Carmen Sandiego. lol

This was one of my absolute favorites back in the day. I think it may have been the first game we got for our -100% IBM compatible PC- - still not sure how truthful that designator was. The desk encyclopedia is still on my shelf, too - despite being 6 when it came out, I really enjoyed playing it. :-)

The North Dakota Carmen could spawn some more strangely specific episodes.
Where in New Rockford is Carmen Sandiego?
Where in the New Rockford's shopping mall is Carmen Sandiego?
In which toilet booth in the New Rockford's shopping.

Wow! Nice mention of -Where in North Dakota Is Carmen Sandiego? - LOLed at some funny bits. I also remembered that there was an NES version of the game (covered by Nintendo Power, along with the Sega Genesis and SNES versions! :D

I remember my dad borrowing the original Carmen Sandiego from a friend for our Tandy 1000. I remember playing the crap out of it and constantly reading through the manual with my parents to figure it out. Great memories.
