Unboxing and testing the Plusdeck 2c, an audio cassette player for desktop computers! It fits into a 5. 25-inch drive bay and offers the ability to play and capture tapes to digital files. Including MP3s, ooh. Let's install and try it out using the serial port on a Windows 98 PC! Chemical_E: I mean- one cool thing you could hypothetically do with this is playback or record your real retail Commodore 64 or other 8-bit microcomputer games on tape format and play them on an emulator with your modern PC.

I would have found this very useful, back in the day. I had loads of cassette tapes I could have digitised, if the idea had occurred to me at the time. Alas, it didn't, due in large to not knowing about it until now. Unfortunately, it's about 23 years too late to do anything about it! Although, that price tag would have put me off. Also, there's a far cheaper way I could have done the same thing, if I'd wanted to.

It never crossed my mind that something like this would exist. My car still has a cassette player, I bought my favourite modern album (Dave - were all alone in this together) and it came on cassette, record and CD

I have one of those, pretty sure mine was the plus 2, the drive worked fine but the software was not that great. Oh and I got it just for the purpose of copying my tape collection to MP3 format.

Given how tapes are slowly making a resurgence where I am due to spiralling costs and wait times for Vinyl, I can see drives like this actually being useful again!

Dunno if it would be considered odd ware but our family was into minidiscs and we almost bought one of those Sony towers with a built in minidisc player/recorder.

Haven't even watched the video yet. I did really want one of these back in the day. My prediction is your experience will make me glad I never got one: )

I really dug seeing the Stryper cassette of Soldiers Under Command in your tape case. It instantly took me back to 1985: )
