If there's anything more tragic than George's death in the final episodes of Young Sheldon, it's the way the writers handled Missy, and fans aren't happy about it. #YoungSheldon #Finale #MissyCooper Voiceover By: Tim Bensch Read Full Article:

I disagree with all of this. George understands Missy best. He is the parent who gets her. It is natural especially after the two of them making it through the tornado that his death hits her hardest. Sheldon and Missy’s twin bond lets her know he is telling her the best way he can he will never forget her. It is enough for Missy. Sheldon’s personality disorder makes it difficult for him to express and process his own and others emotions. Memaw is about the only one that can explain things in a way he understands. It is why she was able to convince Sheldon to get baptized. Pastor Jeff rubbed salt in Missy’s wounds by apologizing for their suffering. She didn’t want to think about it and he forced her to, so she ran. The actress who portrays Missy did a brilliant job of showing her attempts to bury her grief and her anger over her father’s death. I was grateful my youngest brother was able to speak at my father’s funeral, but I wasn’t in the emotional place where I could. I get why Missy’s character didn’t. Plus Sheldon being baptized in scuba gear allowed the writers to take a tragedy in a comedy and end it on a humorous note. Edit to add Sheldon doesn’t believe in God and therefore is not angry at God for his father’s death. Missy not wanting to get baptized, might be due to her anger at God.

Missy was the age I was when my dad died and it actually was also 1994, which was when this was set. I think her ending is pretty accurate of how a 15 year old does feel. It would have been impossible of myself to stand up and talk at my dad's funeral. It is really hard age in the best of times, let alone when you go through something as tragic as losing your dad. She is angry and I think that is a pretty honesty portrayal of a teenagers reaction. The only thing that sucks, is we don't have the follow up with her, other than the Big Bang, when we see the character meany years later. We know from that show that Georgie had to take care of her, so hopefully she will be in some episodes and he can help her through it.

I actually started watching Big Bang Theory toward mid way of series and had to watch reruns to see entirety of show. I didn't really care too much for Sheldon character, but loved everyone else. So I also didn't see Young Sheldon but Dvr last 4 episodes of series to see how George died. While watching I realized I still didn't like Sheldon but liked everyone one else. Just like I didn't like Frazier in his show and won't watch new series because most of the regular actors didn't want to go back especially Niles my favorite. I had a good friend that was also a Genius with 196 I. Q. and he wasn't like Sheldon or Frazier all know-it-all's! Still good shows.

I think the show does a great job at setting up a potential Missy return in the First Marriage spinoff. Sure she hasn't been invited back yet but given what Georgie tells Sheldon in season 10 of Big Bang, he eventually got stuck taking care of Mary _and_ Missy after George's death. But even if it doesn't happen, I think Missy was handled extremely well in the finale, and that it does a good job setting up what was alluded to during Young Sheldon, and what we find out about her in Big Bang.

It actually makes a lot of sense that Missy yells at everyone as a response to her father pass- as an expression of grief.
She is shocked and overwhelmed, and doesn’t feel that her soul has anywhere to turn in order to project her feelings of grief (Mary, Georgie and even Sheldon have where to head for dealing with George Sr. ’s death.
Not to mention that she probably felt very close to her dad, and his death broke her apart

I think it was handled like that so that the words of Georgie to Sheldon when they met again in TBBT stands true. Remember his line: Mom was a mess, Missy was a dumb teenager, I had to look after both of them. This ending for Missy set ups the Georgie's spin-off perfectly and shows how he had to take care of both his Mom, Missy, and his own family after George died and Sheldon left for college.

I whole heartedly disagree! Missy's grief and handling was of them all, the most genuine and believable. Its hard to pull it off, so awesome acting and what your asking for is for everyone to get a Hollywood happy ever-after ending. Missys rock was her father, she was daddy's little girl! Cut loose of this as a teenager, she goes a bit wild and thats 100% in character with missy's future self!

Frankly, I thought the entire finale was a big letdown. Very anticlimactic throughout - felt like the whole thing was phoned in. Meemaw's save at the funeral and her resulting speech was probably the most profound of the few poignant moments in the whole thing.

Missy is the best characters of Young Sheldon She was always just a side (although funny) character. These last couple of seasons were mainly focused on Georgie and Meemaw even more than on Sheldon (is some episodes)

I believe the writers wrote Missy well. I would've had her gone through with the baptism though. Just because she's not part of the Georgie and Mandy spinoff doesn't mean they won't have her on as a guest star.

I dont think I want to see how Missy went off the rails the way we know she did from her appearance in Big Bang. Will you remember me, Is a deep question for Missy too. How is that not obvious
reply

It's the natural reaction to the passing of the one parent that payed attention to you AND the fact that the only one you have left isn't paying attention to you either.
reply

The writers took who was a fun and fantastic character and totally wasted her. I think if Sheldon in the OG series never mentioned his sister, the prequel might have not had her
reply

The real tragedy is the writer/actors strike that shortened the season with forced writers to condense so much into half the episodes of a traditional season.
reply

All they needed was one line of Amy talking about taking the kids to see Uncle Raj to give the fans everything they wanted for two neglected characters.
reply

Missy is your classic middle child! Thrown aside! I can relate as being a middle child too! Just fade into the background was my motto - even as an adult!
reply

They ALL walked off screen never to be seen again! On FB it's mostly creepy looking 50 year old dudes whining about this. It was a good ending, let it go
reply

This is why she needs a spin off, as well as Mary starting to throw herself more into grief, her religion, and coping with raising Missy as a single mom.
reply

I am, sure raegan will be in the spinoff not a regular but we will probably see most of the cast of YS. again, the show is still in development.
reply

Remember, this series is told through Sheldon's memory. This young lady is a phenomenal actor and will go on to prove herself.
