The Real Reason Daniel Day-Lewis Quit Acting Jane: I remember when Lincoln came out and when I checked the lead actor I had no idea who he was to think that I love watching movies. Then last month, June, I saw an article about Paul Thomas' greatest movies. Then I saw DDL's name again. So I googled him and his movies and I was shocked that he has 3 Oscars for Best Actor. First movie of him that I watch was Phantom Thread then There Will Be Blood, and I was breath taken! He was amazing and he's really good looking too! I feel bad that I discovered him just now just when he retired from acting and I kept hearing his name before. My goal in this lifetime is to meet him. I heard he makes shoes now. Wherever you are DDL, I hope you are safe and are enjoying your retirement.

Its so hard to remember that some celebrities arent really celebrities, per se. Some people just love their career and their chosen art form, and commit to it fully, but they dont want the fame that can come with it. Daniel Day-Lewis was an unbelievably talented actor who did what good method actors do; commit themselves to a character fully and without restraint. I dont blame him for wanting to step back. I obviously dont know him personally, but he seems like the kind of person who craved a stage but not necessarily an audience, if you know what I mean.

Hi, Daniel, I can't understand, sometimes if you have no jpb you have accelt a lot to get an contract, act. What isn't easy. I say no too after I get an offer play in a crime movie, i don't like it and I will only play in romantic, comedy without crime. I write scripts too. And as a organised a casting, I looked for person who have the right personality for acting in these roles, I mean that is important, that the actor have a good time after too.

I did not know he quit acting. That saddens me heart because his movies have inspired me and I was planning on watching Lincoln this weekend. I hope he misses acting enough by being away from it that he comes back. But, being so immersed in his roles, I can see how mentally draining it can be for this perfectionist. I definitely don't want to see him take the route Heath Ledger did because acting can take a huge toll.

Can't wait for Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Thomas Anderson to Return to the big screen with a biopic film on Dr. Jordan Peterson and his rise to fame through controversy with Academia and the Intellectual Dark Web.
With Ben Stiller co-starring as Sam Harris. Jennifer Lawrence as Mikayla Peterson, and Cate Blanchett as Cathy Griffin.

I love all of Lewiss characters. He immerses himself into his titled role and is the best in the industry. He needs to be respected for being who he is and most importantly how professional he is. Thank you Mr Lewis for your passion in your roles and my all time favorite is Abraham Lincoln. Thank you sincerely. You are the best.

DDL is the equivalent of a Napoleon or Alexander in brilliance and dominating passion, the difference being that he didn't have to slaughter to explore the full potential of his qualities, and is obviously blessed with empathy. One of the greats, who like da Vinci or Michelangelo, only brought beauty and light into this world.

Perhaps he dislikes the inherent falseness and narcissism of the Hollywood scene. Plus, for an actor of his insane work ethic and hard won skill, it must be hard seeing the many, many actors who basically play themselves in every movie get heaped with praise - being referred to as a member of the same craft as Lewis.

And what should future actors learn from this cautionary tale?
RELAX. its just a && movie.
Youre not a politician.
Youre not an astronaut.
Youre not slaving over a cure for cancer.
Youre just pretending to be the people that do while making more money than them.

Day-Lewis will be back. Someday. He won't be able to help himself. Either he will hear about a compelling script, or he will wake up one morning, with that 'itch to create an entirely new persona again. Either way, it will happen. It's a part of who he is as a person.
