The Most Underrated Horror Movies Of The Last 15 Years

I watched the US remake, though this is one of the FEW cases where I feel the foreign original AND US remake are Equally stellar. Typically US remakes (as the vid says) are trash for people who are too lazy to read subtitled. But in this case the both versions of the film (both written & directed by the same person) have wonderful directing, top notch acting & just pure psychological horror that sticks with you forever.
Some say the remake is better, but I love both as I've said, but will say: the Cast of the US Version has some Truly Talented actors, who's work I love: Tim Roth, Naomi Watts, Micheal Pitt, & so on.
Funny Games - Highly Recommended & Underrated Horror Film!

The Descent: awesome film
The House of the Devil: slow burn film but still great (plus it really captures the 80s)
A Tale of Two Sisters: scary during first watch (watched it as a kid) not so much the second time
Thirst: haven't watched it yet
Pontypool: did not like it

High Tension: about to watch it (edit: just watched it and wow it was awesome, definitely underrated)

The Descent just had really really bad timing. It was a British horror movie which was released the same month after the London bombing attacks (7/7) and to top it off, one of the busses that was bombed featured a poster of the movie, and you could still read a part of it afterwards, which said outright terror. Yeah understandably nobody in Britain was in a mood to see that movie and since it did so bad in the European market, it wasn't widely released in the US.

The Loved Ones: Extraordinarily crazy and gory
We are what we are: Amazing, trully
Pontypool: meh. My least favourite
High Tension: The twist ending negates the previous story entirely
Evil Dead: Hell yeah!

V/H/S is garbage. The only thing scary in V/H/S is the girl from the segment about a Succubus or some shit and I don't mean the character, the girl herself, she is terrifying to look at. I watched it a while back and I looked away from the screen to grab my lighter and when I looked back her face was 3-inches away from the camera and I almost had a heart attack.

Just gonna argue the first bit of narration. No. It hasn't been a good year for horror. It is ALWAYS a terrible year for horror. The genre is ruined. If, however, something good does fly under the radar from time to time send up a smoke signal and I'll keep my ear to the ground. or something. I'll try to watch it is what I mean.

The Descent was ignored in the US because the emotional infants who live there are used to the Hollywood pablum of Disneyfied happy endings and couldn't deal with the way the movie ends -- so the US distributor removed the last 15 seconds or so of the film, completely blunting the impact, point, and horror of it.
