Beloved Movies That Totally Bombed At The Box Office Jeus: Well, usually people go to cinema for social interaction with partners, friends or family, so the movies chosen at cinema must not too unique and more acceptable publicly like love romance movies for lovers, comedy for friends, heartwarming movies for family and childrens.
Those cult or violent or creative or hard to understand movie, you won't challenge them on theatre unless you are sure those accompany you has a similar taste like yours.
So those movie which done in good quality eventually become our dvd or video release collection at home when we want to explore alone or with someone close enough to enjoy that with you.
Those are the marketing lesson that film developer should consider.

About Chronicles of Riddick, with a budget of 120 million it needed to be a hit just to break even. It wasn't and it didn't. Earning only 150 million worldwide. First of all, I don't know how much was spent on marketing, but the box office was 30 million more than the budget according to these numbers. That sounds like it was pretty close to breaking even unless they spent a great deal more than any other movie on this list for marketing. Secondly, where are you getting your numbers? According to IMDB, which I consider a more reliable source than Looper, it had a budget of 105 million and grossed 115 million world wide.

I was terribly disappointed in Chronicles of Riddick.
In Pitch Black he was a callous murderer who had his eyes modified while doing time in a lightless prison. I had no trouble believing that he would have murdered every other character without hesitation if it would benefit him, yet he still ended up being an engaging character. Then in Chronicles they retroactively changed him into a good guy with a noble destiny. They might as well have changed the character's name and left out any reference to Pitch Black.

I would have mentioned the advertising of Dredd a lot more; I didn't realise it added 25 million to the cost, who in the hell did they pay? The abysmal advertising was the main reason I didn't rush out to see it, as it was cut together horribly with some of the worst imaginable choices of music, making it seem like it was going to be another cheese-fest. Fortunately for me my local independent cinema gets things later, so I was still able to see it on the big screen once reviews I trusted came in.

The only people who seemed to love Scott Pilgrim vs The World were the people who knew the comics and lived in Toronto. They were so faithful to the original material and their target audience, it was touching. Outsiders had no idea how good it was. Set designs, costumes, subtle nuances and even face expressions were on point. I fecking love this move, but other than the friends I saw it with, I've never met another soul that liked it

Box Office is a bit overrated once home video was introduced. Austin Powers did okay at the Box Office, but people fell in love with it on home video and became a smash success. in spite of so-so box office. I'm still shocked that audiences didn't really love Scott Pilgrim, but then again a lot of people go see Fast and Furious films proving the masses aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

I see you shiver with antici. SAY IT. pation. The Rocky Horror Picture Show has become a second generation cult classic. It's a toss up as to whether I seen this movie more times than I saw Star Wars. Three things made this movie great: It was deliberately made as an homage to all the B grade movies; Tim Curry's over the top performance; and the audience participation.

The Boondocks Saints was first shown on Sky Movies it never made it to the cinema. The Raid was a rip off of Dredd, The script of Dredd was leaked online before The Raid went in to production. same goes for Robocop in the 80's was a Judge Dredd rip off. so em yeah lets hope Netflix helps funds the Judge Dredd Tv series that is being made

I was not a fan of Scott Pilgrim despite my Mary Elizabeth Winstead crush at the time. I never read the comic/manga it was based off of but I dont know why, just couldnt get into it. I tried it again a year ago and disliked it even more. It was my ex-girlfriends favorite movie though. I guess it just wasnt for me.
