If you have seen The Last Jedi, you would know Ben was lying to her to get her to join him on the Dark Side. The Dark Side has an unreliable narrative and that's why Luke had to confirm with Rey that she is a Palpatine. Rey was always meant to have a strong Force lineage according to JJ Abram.

Angel Heart did a much better job then Shutter Island did in the genre of a man unknowingly investigating himself. It s one of my favorite movies (best in this genre) and by far my favorite Mickey Rourke movie.
