The Most Terrifying Opening Scenes In Horror Films Mikael: I kind of think Stepfather (the 80s original with Terry O'Quinn) should have been included.
It opens with him in the bathroom, all messed up and bloody. He cuts his hair, shaves his beard, takes a shower, dresses up real nice and leaves the 2nd floor bathroom.
On his way downstairs we see more and more bloodstains on the walls and on the floors. He stops to straighten a painting on the wall, lift a small chair that has fallen over and put the phone back on the hook. As he passes the living room you see blood everywhere and the dead bodies of the family who lived in that house.
But he just walks right past all that, out the door, closes it behind him and starts to whistle as he strolls down the street.
It may be a b-movie, but Terry O'Quinn is FANTASTIC in it, and that opening scene gives me chills every time I see it.

It's so nice to see The hitcher get some recognition for being underrated gem of a horror movie and I don't know why but this is the first time that I've seen the Evil Dead remake get any recognition as a legitimate horror movie and not a comedy horror like it has been in the previous three installments. The intro alone is definitely nightmare-inducing.

Okay, we get it. You like the movie It Follows. Seems to make every one of your horror lists. Honestly, it was a mediocre film. The girl sitting on the beach was not scary. Scream should've been on here. While it is cliche now, that is because it was iconic and groundbreaking when it happened. Beginning of Saw was creepy as hell to when it came out.

For longer than I'd like to admit I thought that Mike Myers the actor played Mike Myers the villain. I have never seen the movie and didn't realize the villain's name was Mike Myers, it wasn't that I thought they shared a name, I thought people were just refering to the actor when they talked about Halloween

28 weeks later, when the zombies are coming into the cottage. The one guy leaves his own wife to die. Crazy scary and an interesting take on morality. Makes one question whether one would stay for no reason than to die with the wife (who was doomed, or run and attempt to survive as the husband does

I thought Evil Dead (the original) was a comedy movie. I'm pretty sure someone told me it was and I was like oh I will watch it. So I'm all curled up in bed at 10 PM and i'm like hm, it's not funny yet. Then BAM, scary lady in a white dress comes out of no where and i'm like okay what the heck.

Yes! IT gave me nightmares as a child. As an adult, I absolutely HATE clowns and I don't walk on storm drains. I walk around the storm drain. My hubby thinks it's hilarious but he's never seen IT. I had nightmares for years as a child after watching IT I regretted watching it.

Sorry, but if a six year old comes at me with a knife, he's going over my knee and getting spanked for playing with knives. This whole movie could've been avoided if Michael's sister did anything besides stand there like an idiot while a first grader stabs her.

Interesting to see people's different opinions of terrifying. People on Youtube trash talk Veronica (called scariest movie and that many people couldn't even finish) but yet they think that the opening of Scream is terrifying? LOL.

I thought that the beginning of Ghost Ship where everyone on the dance floor gets ripped in half and the beginning of Taking Lives where the guy changing the tire got kicked into an on coming car might make the list!
