This Deleted Nightmare On Elm Street Scene Completely Changes Everything MaximumWinz: With that scene it reveals the depth of her parents characters as they were portrayed. I always got the sense that they knew more than they said. And the mom's tone and perception was off setting in a way that made her character feel like she was too distraught or traumatized, but now it is so much more believable. I get that she has some guilt and a addiction problem. But she seemed broken to the point of almost being lifeless or disoriented before. But that makes a lot more sense knowing she lost a child before. The movie really could of used that extended version of the scene. Through the possible 100 times I've seen the movie I've always been a little uneasy with her character. Cant wait to watch it again. In a new light. In another note. I'm not a huge fan of remakes and sequels. Mostly because the production companies never seem to be able to pull in the original cast and crews. They bring in new writers, directors, and fx people. They all want to put their own stamp on things and bring in new useless characters, or even go as far to twist the genre of the series or franchise. As they unfortunately did with NOES. Friday the 13th, and even The Terminator. The latter worked great as a horror flick IMO. But bringing all this new, doesn't leave so much room for what captured and held the fans imagination or intrigue to begin with. They fail to bring in the very aspects we love in the originals and most importantly they fail to keep a story going built on the characters we have watched grow and change as the story unfolds. You would think that the studios and production teams would realize that their best lure is already in place. They just have to real it in.

I have a theory that Nancys mother was also being stalked by Freddy.
We establish later in the movie that Nancys mother keeps Freddy Krueger his gloves after she exposes the truth about him, but we also discovered at Nancys mother is an alcoholic. Alcohol affects our sleep in such a way that dreams are cut off. There are several stages of sleep that we go through during the night, and the one where we dream is called REM ( Rapid Eye Movement) Sleep. Nancys Mothers alcoholism may in fact be her defense to keep Freddy from killing her, which makes the moment when she slaps Nancy for attacking her alcoholism more intense. The only way Freddy could kill her was if she stopped drinking, which she announces at the ending, to which Freddy pulls her into the door killing her. You may say that she died before when Freddy pulls her into her bed and she disappears, but this is because Nancy had pulled Freddy out of the dream world where he could finally get revenge on the mother who killed him and buried his weapon of choice. What do you think?

I thought everybody knew that Freddy was a Pedophile. That's part of the reason they always showed those little girls singing 1, 2 Freddy's coming for you 3, 4 you better lock your door. Freddy was a Monster. Really guys you didn't know this. Do some movie homework. There was also a 80s Elm street T. V. series that explains this in more detail. With Robert England playing as Freddy in the show before the parents track him down. Think it was 1 or 2 seasons before they took it off the air. A Nightmare on Elm Street the series. Might be a bit harder to find being it was before the internet. Maybe on someone's old VHS tape in a garage or basement. Nancy's mom explaining who Freddy really was, was always in the version that I watched. Unless it might have been deleted in a made for T. V. edit of the film. I don't know

I disagree, I don't think it woulda made any difference if they kept that in or not, sure it woulda been nice to know, but I really don't think it woulda made a difference, besides, isn't this kinda hinted at anyway, I mean, why else would Mr. and Mrs. Thompson agree to be part of the mob who killed him? Think about it, I'm pretty sure their decision to be a part of the angry mob wasn't made on a whim, THEY had to have had a reason to want the guy dead as well.

I already knew all this and don't see how it changes anything. Okay, sure, maybe it makes it more personal, but in the theatrical release Freddy kills all her friends and spends the whole movie trying to kill her. I think that's personal enough. Plus the original dialogue creates a whole plothole. The events of ANOES happen 10 years after Krueger is murdered. If Nancy is 15 here, then she would remember that sibling she used to have when she was five.

I knew after watching this film three times as a child in my grandparents basement that there was an easy to figure reason those elm street parents killed Krueger. He was a child molester and murderer so it made sense to me he had killed siblings for them to want revenge that badly. Psychologically no afult would murder unless it was personal last resort revenge through a bad system that let them down.

What about old photos or even relatives to tell her about her deceased sibling? There's no way that Nancy could NOT have known she had a sibling unless her parents worked hard to keep it a secret, but why would any parent worth their grain of salt keep that info hidden from their child? Yes, I know I'm looking into this too deeply. You'll have to excuse me, I'm a fan of the series Lol.

Am I alone on this, I know I saw this scene with the mom by the boiler talking to Nancy with the Freddy blade approx 10+ years ago filling her in on everything.
And what the hell is the host talking about. That doesn't change anything about the storyline, it just gives us a little more in depth backstory on what we already knew?

reply

It would have actually made the movie A little better. Nancy's parents acted crazy the entire film and this would explain their behavior. they think she's just remembering bad things that happened around her, rather than things she's experiencing now. And it definitely explains why her mother is such a mess.
