Solo didn't do well because of several things, it was released too soon after the last Jedi, should have been out at Christmas like the previous three Star Wars films,
Two, it was released too close to infinity wars and Deadpool 2, meaning it was third choice for alot of people.
Dogged by scandal, for some reason directors think they can simply do what they want and that some how Disney is just gonna let that happen? Disney is not the powerhouse it is by accident then know movies.
Poor marketing, I think they cut their losses way before release. people were not sure what Solo was.
Silly arsehole fans not supporting a film from the universe they are supposed to love. Although I don't think this was as big a impact as they like to think. Very childish behaviour, Solo is a good Star Wars film and should be enjoyed at the cinema.

Admirable commitment to diversity was the biggest Red Flag for Wrinkle. Any time Hollywood sets out to make the right kind of movie they fail, miserably. Ava Duvernay is NOT exceedingly talented and since when do young adult movie crowds listen to adult critiques? Wrinkle was a bad movie and kids knew it.
Annihilation was also NOT a very good movie but one you HAVE to sing praises for because of its female cast. It is another one of those Hey lets make a diversity movie to get our cred back films that bomb badly and slip quietly into the night. THEN someone makes a GOOD movie that happens to have a female cast and THEY get all the proiase.

I like how people try to understand everyone's feelings about a movie and explain how it didn't go well with things like people took note of the critics etc.
I believe that most people don't care about critics to decide if they want to watch a movie or not, it just depends on their mood at the moment, what kind of movie they want to watch and their personal preferences and as we don't all go to the cinema twice a week some movies get left behind.
I think the major issue about those movies is that they cost way too much money and most of it goes into advertising which, in that case, didn't go as planned.

I call BS. You've made every possible excuse for Solo, and that movie was a dumpster fire from concept to marketing. Let's take what should have been a fun, popcorn S. W. adventure and make it into an empowering politically correct message movie instead. Let's disregard the fact that S. W movies are box office gold because they're pure escapism. Not every movie has to be a heavy-handed commentary on current events, viewed through a genre lens. Just like not every Y. T. video needs to be an apologist for it. You should be ashamed, Looper.

You left out the obvious reason when the people writing the scripts are more interested in diversity than writing a good movie or even a half decent one than of course the movie will flop. it's also obvious that there is an agenda for all movies to go this way. I predict that this will be the beginning of the end for Hollywood Because the only people that will pay to watch this crap has more money than brains, it will also be the beginning of the end of pay tv for the same reason. RIP Foxtel and he like.

Skyscraper - it looked uninteresting because it looked like Diehard Ripoff. I didn't watch it.
Wrinkle in Time - it looked like Borefest: The Movie. I didn't watch it.
Hurricane Heist - it looked like Another Bad Weather, Bad CGI Movie. I didn't watch it.
Annihilation - I watched it. It was. okay, but it had a weird, unintelligible ending.
Solo - I watched it. I liked it.

Solo failed because people lost interest in the Star Wars franchise. That happened as a result of the repetitive plot in the first movie, the over powered character Rey, the weak villian Kylo, the portrayal of Luke Skywalker, and the boring side arch with Rose and Finn with the clunky political message. It's why I can already tell you the next Star Wars movie is going to bomb as well.
