Critically Acclaimed Films No One Saw In Theaters Karen: Scott Pilgrim - the reason I didn't want to see it can be summed up in the description done here: a combination of the ultra-violence of a Quentin Tarantino movie & the sensibilities of a classic video game. No, thank you. Man On the Moon - I didn't see it because, while I enjoyed Jim Carrey's earlier work (he was incredible in a dramatic turn in Doing Time on Maple Drive, I was NOT a fan of Andy Kaufman. The bigger his character got on Taxi the more annoying he got to me. so I passed. The Hurt Locker - Saw it & loved it, even though I'm not a huge War Movie person. It was just that good. Hugo - Haven't seen it yet, but want to. While you couldn't pay me to see Twilight, I saw The Muppets and was greatly disappointed in it. I would have rather seen Hugo. Snowpiercer - Saw it and loved it. I was so surprised to find out that it underperformed in the box office. It was awesome.

Really does amaze me. All these excuses and weight put on what critics like. Hogwash. These were bad movies and the audiences just didn't like them, regardless of the boutique directors and advertising. Plenty of movies did very well from word-of-mouth. Apparently the people at Looper seem to think that if the critics like them, then by golly so should we. When the critics start paying for my admission, I'll start seeing the films that they like. Until then, I'll just see the movies I like.

Good list, and I enjoy these films as my perspective no matter its not box office success that it didnt reach high standards, but still clever as its own right. Scott Pilgrim is awesome, Man on the Moon was pretty good, The Hurt Locker is good, Hugo is absolutely amazing and my favorite of all time in 2011, and Snowpiercer is an awesome action sci-fi winter movie.

Being a confirmed Train Nut, I was greatly impressed by Hugo. The story was compelling, the visuals were outstanding, and it gave the audience a glimpse into an important piece of cinematic history, not to mention a famous automaton. It might even have interested the kids!

'Blade Runner 2049' was the best movie that underperformed at the box office. It was an amazing movie though, flawless cinematography and the best love scene ever put to film. It is also arguably one of the best sequels ever made.

I did see Man on the Moon in theatres and that's two hours of my life I'll never get back. It's only remarkable quality is that it seemed to magically make time stop as it dragged on wasting hours of my life I'll never get back.

if Scorsese's HUGO really did lose out to Twilight, goddam it must really suck. But I haven't seen it. I'll have to take anything Looper says with a grain of salt after their reasons for SW Solo disappointment in the last video

How can a movie like Hugo, a wonderful, touching family film from the greatest modern director of all time barely make its budget back while Jack and Jill, a shallow, ugly and painfully unfunny comedy is a box office success.

I tell ya you just wanna punch a concrete wall when you realize the great films rejected by the public at the box office and the absolute unwatchable crap that ends up making money, time and time again!
