J. K. Rowling Responds To Critics After Nagini Controversy Goes Viral
video description
Secondly, on JK Rowling changing things up after the book. It's absolute garbage. Love is love and at no point do you ever need to define where that comes from with regards to Dumbledore. Now, if she wanted to write in the books his love for Grindelwald then that's that. BUT she never did!
Her lack of respect for her own creation continues to break my heart as I honestly believe she was the less creative writer of whoever helped her with the Original Harry Potters. No writer in the history has ever been so complacent after creating such a masterpiece. She could write about the Marauders, Tom Riddle, Harry Potter, and the wizarding world after Voldemort's defeat.
Of course, I am always open to hearing other people's opinions so comment on what you think below!

Yes she is right, in indonesia it called Naga and the conection with woman i think its related to Nyi Roro Kidul she got stories for being The Naga Queen but Naga can mean as Dragon. but it get different looks with dragon from europe that have a big leg & wing and also can stand on it leg. or dragon from china that looks like a mix of several animal(dragon claw, deer horn etc. most Indonesian stories about her(Nyi Roro Kidul) tells that she can change her shape into a giant green snake that can flying & swimming. so Nagini transform into the big snake. and she got Asian actress. thats nothing to complaint, its all related.
You can search the stories about Nyi Roro Kidul in google, she got another title like Queen of south Java Sea and she got strong myth there, and i heard some rumors no man allowed to wear a green clothes there. or she will take you into her sea. and thats happen SO MANY TIMES!

I THINK its the combination of a weak and vulnerable character and an asian actress. Because asian representation hasnt been alot more than just: submissive asian girl falls in love with someone and then cant stop crying.
You know, like cho chang.
And I think its that thing that has upset people. Because of the lame stereotype. And I think I cant say I completely disagree with them, because it used to happen quite often that a latina would be a loudass, hoops wearing, big titted woman who had an accent and wasnt actually that smart. It made me feel ashamed of being a latina as a kid so I always just told people I was white HAHAH obviously no one believed me, but I was a kid. It wouldnt have the same effect on me as an adult but like for kids. it kinda sucks lol

1. Dumbledore was gay - Fine. There were clues from the book series that he was and thats ok!
2. Nagini was an Asian woman - Doesnt bother me. There was no backstory in the books so she could be anything
3. Hermione shouldve ended up with Harry - Not cool! Ruined Hermione/Ron. Does Ron not also deserve happiness?
4. Hermione was actually black - This feels forced and really annoys me. I dont have a problem with Hermione being black. But in the books Hermione was described as having brown hair. Fact: All black people have black hair.

I feel as if people get annoyed at the wrong castings. We never see Naginis race we just assumed Nagini was a snake.
Normally Im annoyed at forced representation cause its tokenism rather then being inclusive, but tbh I dont see the fuss? But if there is something legitimately wrong with this do let me know I thought it was weird how she made Dumbledore gay because politics rather then just having Dumbledore gay originally (unless I missed something in the books: O)

Im gonna say this, it really doesnt matter what she changes and when bc its her story and another point, these books were written in the early 90s so if im not mistaken the uk was not nearly as diverse as it is now so why would it be in the books and gays werent really excepted so 1 why would she share that then and 2 even if she just wanted to show representation who tf cares bc shes not only showing her love for everyone and again its her story

I quite enjoy the idea of Dumbledore being gay and there was little point in mentioning that in the Harry Potter series since we know so little about Dumbledore. Whats annoying and quite frankly a shame, is that that will not be in the fantastic beast series, since that is very well a part of the plot. Grindelwalds and Dumbledores relationship is important to the plot and would deepen it by mentioning how they feel towards each other.

Seriously it cracks me up that korean people are upset about being represented by Nagini. I am polish and my representation is some fat, and clumsy moustache guy. who is not even a wizard! He is a muggle from first part of fantastic beasts. An economical immigrant that came to London to open his little bakery! :D Can it get any more racist than that? And yet i see no polish peoople complaining. interesting.

Voldemort is inspired by Nazis so why exactly is it controversial then if an ally of his is an Asian woman? You do remember history, right? Furthermore, what stereotype associated Asian people with snakes? And in what way was Nagini a dragon lady? And lets say Nagini were played by a Polish actress or Voldemort by a Chinese or Japanese actor, would you then also consider this controversial?
