This is very unusual movie. The AI observed humanity extensively & initiated apocalypse but expected every new embriyo to grow perfect, that's not possible. Even clones would differ somewhere & here all embriyos are showed unique. Every society requires various types of people to do different jobs, so some are scientists, some are PWD workers, etc, the AI didn't observe this? A robot doesn't require sleep & van monitor the facility all the time but it was shown so that the daughter could be shown taking advantage of her sleep. Learning from past failures AI would become more alert & defensive. She allowed herself to be killed but as the controller AI in sync with other droids she can move to any droid any time. In the end she does that & kills the outsider woman in the container. Hence the droids outside still alive still pose a threat.

Daughter should have destroyed the embryos and herself and her brother. The only way to foil Mother is not to defeat her, but to foil her plans.
Humans embracing independence and extinction on their own terms rather than accepting domestication. We are NOT pets.
The film strives for a defiant note at the end, but falls short of true defiance. WE are the creators, we refuse to be controlled by our creations.
Besides, Daughter blowing the whole facility, embryos and all, while singing that lullaby to her Brother would have been more gut-wrenching.
The final scene would have been the first scene, showing a Repopulation Center 002 and a new Mother coming online.
To create new sentience is folly.

This film is like a sociopath lsrp test. You think mum is salt of the earth and raised here daughter well. and all the 'sacrifices' are worth it. You sir are at least a sociopath. If you think utilitarianism is a good idea you should probaby section yourself as you are highly likely to join or be part of a extreme group that desires the unintential sacrifice of many people based on a judgement you made after reading a leaflet or watching the news. you know wjo you are.

Forging her own path, the daughter not only has the whole facility under her control, but she also has all the drones under her control. No matter what happens, Mother will save the daughter. It was pretty amazing how it was intentional for the wounded woman to enter the facility. Repopulation starts now, and it seems that the drones have no regret over their final decision.

Im confused.
Does mother want daughter to terminate her brother if he eventually fails the tests or was her goal to make sure daughter would not do something like that ever.
I still dont know get the bigger picture stuff like would you let 1 die to save many etc. and what we supposed to think daughter feels about that

I thought Javier Bardem symbolised David Aronofsky, and Jennifer Lawrence represented the audience driven to desperation by nothing happening in this film to the point where they burn down the world the director has created by switching it off and vowing to never watch another Aronofsky film as long as they live.

APX02 shows that no matter your raising or education there's always gonna be human failures, so this is the proof that de whole idea of having a perfect society of perfect people is just not possible. Evil and good must exist in equal proportions in the universe so it can be in equilibrium itself.
