I think most of the time, villains teased in the preceding MCU films have rarely been the main villain of the next immediate movie.

Spiderman Homecoming, Scorpion, Elemental monsters
Avengers 1, Thanos, Ultron
Captain America 2, Barron Von Strucker, Ultron
Ant Man, Hydra, Ghost
Avengers 2, Klaue, Kilmonger
Kinda hard to make the list given that villains were teased in films outside their main franchise (like Klaue appearing in Avengers despite being set up as a Black Panther villain) but you get my point. I just dont see Mordo as main villain material.

I really hope Doctorr Strange 2 storyline is the mystical challenge which formalizes Stephen Strange as the Sorceror Supreme, since the Ancient One didn't exactly manage to officially appoint him as her successor. It also make sense for Baron Mordo to return here since a gathering of sorcerors would be the ideal place for him to strike & absorb their powers. Bonus points if we get a side character of a genius sorceror named Viktor.

Let's take a moment to appreciate that it was Doctor Strange who brought EVERYONE back in Endgame (including the rat) He didn't get nearly enough credit for that. Not even a solo shot of him returning through the portals. Strange directing choice indeed. Would have been nice to see him returning first.

Fun fact: Benedict Cumberbatch went to Manchester University. My dad works there and I go to Chinese School there! ( I'm only 12 -in 9 days though- so I can't go to university yet )

Begin with Mordo, move into next Doctor Strange by teasing Nightmare. I'd be ok with that. Gotta tie up the Mordo loose end some time and I'd think most would want it done sooner rather than later. I could be wrong.

Baron Mordo is Chinese, and he is Doctor Strange's long time Arch Rival. But leave it up to the Dick Suckers at Marvel to make him a Random Black guy who basically did nothing in the first movie.
