Reys lightsaber is yellow because blue and red are both primary colors, and they represent Jedi and Sith, yellow, which is the third primary color, is neutral/neither because they dont identify as either a Jedi or a Sith
This also may be a nod to the prequels, in which Anakin was said to be the chosen one and would bring balance to the force. Most people thought it may have been Luke or even Darth Vader after he killed Palpatine, but it was actually Rey because she is the last and was neither a Jedi or a Sith and therefore brought balance to the Force
People may argue that the lightsaber should be purple, but purple is and indication of the ability to use the light and dark sides of the force, and purple is a combination of red and blue, but yellow is neither and is therefore balance because there is neither faction left

Whats the logic of looking for all the meanings of the different colors and then just saying The purple light saber was only introduced because Samuel L Jackson wanted it? I mean green lighsabers were introduced in episode VI only because the blue one used in the previous episodes wouldnt be visible in outside scene so lucas decided lukes saber color to be green. so what. Green has a meaning but purple doesnt because Samuel L Jackson? Its not real world its a story created by someones fantasy, all the colors were only introduced because someone wanted it

Purple means the user could use a little of the dark side while still being in control
Yellow used by the jedi temple guards/sentinels
Green means the user is very powerful in the force and usually try to negotiate but have no problem fighting with their lightsaber
Blue means the user is good at everything but a master of none, they are jedi knights and protect peace
Edit: white sabers is when a jedi heals a bleeding Kyber crystal
Red sabers is when a sith makes the Kyber crystal bleed which makes the color of the saber red

What it really means? She is a Sith! Hello, Siths have yellow eyes. She is a Palpatine. She stole the Skywalker name, buried their lightsabers in the sand, and fired up the one color of lightsaber that exists now. Yellow. The color of the SIth's eyes. It is clear that they won.

Rey doesnt deserve the yellow lighsaber, she uses it all the time to show off her skills, she doesnt use her knowledge and jumps head on into combat without thinking

I thought Ahsoka's sabers were white not yellow since she's a force wielder who is not a Jedi or a Sith. She left the order near the end of Clone Wars.

yellow is the best if you mix red (sith lightsabers) with green probably the most common jedi colour you get yellow! perfect balance in the force
