I think it's fairly obvious that:
1) Dr. Manhattan is still alive out there
2) Angela Abar gets his powers
In episode 8, Dr. M walks on water. When Angela asks him why he's doing that, he says because you need to see it. for later. That one scene is an easter egg and clue to what happens after the series ends. Dr. M has been able to see/perceive all the events of his life including his death but he has not been able to see beyond those events. He would not know what Angela needs to see AFTER he had died unless he was still alive after the big finale. Also, this same scene with Dr. M walking on the pool STRONGLY suggests that she is gifted his powers from the egg since Dr. M planted the suggestion to her in the first place.

This show could have been so much more if they were brave enough to make it based on a different premise instead of simply superimposing the plot on Alan Moore's work. The show itself has pretty good writing in terms of the multi-layered story telling between different time periods. However, as a watchmen series, it doesn't really capture the characterization left behind by the watchmen comic book as well as the Doomsday clock comic run.

I'm disappointed in you, Adrian. I'm very disappointed. Reassembling myself was the first trick I learned. It didn't kill Osterman. Did you really think it would kill me? I have walked across the surface of the sun. I have witnessed events so tiny and so fast, they could hardly be said to have occurred at all. But you, Adrian, you're just a man. The world's smartest man poses no more threat to me than does its smartest termite.

When I first saw this time now I just like they race what Doctor Manhattan but almost immediately after having that thought I realized that he could change his molecular structure and if you can do that he can make himself look like anything really if you wanted to look like a woman he could look like a woman once I realized that kind of seemed like a good Showboat of one of his abilities

we know it was sometime after 2017 because Veidt says to the Game Warden that it was a wonderful 8 years, and since most events in the show dont show dates, we can assume it at least may be a year before veidt returns due to the ship not arriving until a year after Veidt writed the message and Trieu buys the property where the ship lands.

Although logic would dictate that Veidt was frozen about a year (8 years on Europa + 1 year in transit to Earth leaves only 1 of the ten years, Lindelof confirmed on the Podcast that Veidt was only frozen for a couple of days.

Veidt knew that even if Trieu did the right thing she would have ended up bored with a perfect society and then probably ended up making up fabricated challenge to entertain herself like Veidt did on Europia.

The reason they de powered Manhattan is because if you follow shows like this with a black character he is either gay or feminized and the thought of a ultra powerful black character is threatening
