Explaining The End Of Watchmen Season 1

Think about it. One of the major themes from the Watchmen comic is how singular and lonely Dr. Manhattan is. He cannot connect to other people because of his powers, and he wants desperately to love someone and have them love him. He is even willing to forget his powers in order to be in love and live with someone.
But he knows that forgetting his power can only be temporary. Eventually he will have to use them to protect the person he loves or the person he loves will ask him to use them. Both these things happen in the series.
So using his powers he sets up the possibility that he will fall in love with someone who loves him back and be able to give her his powers so that they can be together forever.
That's why he met Angela is Vietnam, that's why he forgot his powers, and that is why he gave her the egg.
Most importantly, that is why he relayed Angela's question to her grandfather that informed him about Keane and set this whole thing in motion! This is the first and ONLY time Dr. Manhattan ever did anything to actually effect time. The rest of the time he acts as if he has no choices, that his actions are preordained. But in informing Hooded Justice about Keane, he created a paradox, something that breaks the flow of time all of the sake of creating someone else like him who loves him. And he did it knowing he would be destroyed because of it.
But here's the thing. If Angela has his powers and loves him, how easy would it be for her to simply bring him back? Or to keep him from ever coming back.
The question is will Angela bring Mahattan back when she figures out what he has done? When she figures out that all the pain and death was put in motion my Manhattan soley to create a wife for himself will she hate him for it and see him as just another Ozymandias using elaborate schemes that cause death and destruction just to get what he wants?
I'm guessing that because of the tachyon blind spot thing Manhattan didn't know whether or not Angela would bring him back or not. So it will be up to her.
If she chooses to bring back Manhattan she must forgive him for all his selfishness and all the death he put into motion. But if she doesn't bring him back she must face the same loneliness that he did.

Arresting Ozzy and Redford was the part of the ending that felt the least Watchmen to me. The original comic despite being alternate history felt so real because it jettisoned all the naivete that comes with traditional superhero comics. It showed a world where Dr. Manhattan, the Comedian, Nixon got away with war crimes. The U gov't's leaders since WW2 have all committed war crimes and are never held to account. That is how the real world works. To insert this idea that Redford and Ozzy should go to trial, I believe it in principle just as I think current U politicans deserved to be tried under the Nuremberg Accords and then hanged after found guilty. But it feels false. It feels like justice. But it doesn't feel like the real world or Watchmen.
Mind you, 3. 5 million Vietnamese civilians, a million Vietnamese combatants and over a million Cambodians were killed in the North American war in Vietnam. Ergo LBJ, Nixon and Dr. Manhattan were bigger war criminals in terms of numbers than Ozzy. This doesn't excuse Ozzy, but I've seen many North Americans see Ozzy as such a great monsterous villain, but not so for Dr. Manhattan and what he did to the Veitnamese, most likely because they see killing three million New Yorkers as an attrocity more so than the war in Vietnam.

Angela and Ozy are my favorite characters. Doc M did right the entire time. He knew he had to die for a bigger purpose. There is a plan to it all. To think it is a simple ending is to be naive. He knew to put his power in an egg during his first conversation with Angela and so he did. He's always known he had to die and for a being of godlike power, you only die because you want to.
Season 2 can begin with Angela falling straight into the pool, being disappointed because it didn't work. It took a long time for Doc M to figure out his power (having watchmaker legacy in your blood. You have to assume that a regular human is incapable of understanding the fabric of the universe on their first try. Eventually she will and well, she can simply bring Jon back with a snap of her fingers.
Everything is simple as of right now based on the plot between all of the characters. There is no doomsday catastrophe yet that was implied this season. Next season can show us that threat towards the end of S2 which would be right around when Angela snaps Jon back.
There are tons of questions left unanswered. Looking forward to S2.

Didn't they cancel the series? If they continued it, I would bet real money that Dr. M did not die/is not dead. I mean he was disassembled at an atomic (or sub-atomic) level a a human and reassembled himself, and again at the hands of Veidt. He may have decided by removing himself from the scene would achieve far more for humanity in that people would have to find their own way and not assume Dr. M as God would save them. But hey, I could be wrong. Just a theory, your mileage will vary.

Basically used the name of the comic and its characters to get people to watch. Less would watch the show if it wasn't called Watchmen, I imagine. The same guy that came up with the show Lost is the same hack writing this show. That explains the show's god awful writing

I was so curious about some of the details n I suspected some but at the same time was holding on to the mystery. Curiosity won, again so I had to look for this vid which took care of those few questions I had. What a great episode that was.
Now the worst part, waiting for them to come out with season 2. Awesome show so far, better than i expected tbh

Dont believe that Dr Manhattan sacrificed himself knowing that he was going to be killed by the Cavalry.
Remember that he makes decisions for the greater good and is omnipresent so can reassemble based upon his watchmaker ability.
Remember him and Ozzie worked together before for the greater good.

Jeremy irons ozymandias was great! What I missed is a counterpart as rorschach. A Nobel, idealist character that we can root for. Also the ending was disappointing, really opsosed as Alan Moores believes, where ozymandias saves the day, but goes to jail. Political correctness won, I guess

1985, someone tries to vaporize Dr. M, Laurie discover the truth and got his ass kicked by Veidt in Karnak. 25 years later, someone vaporizes Dr. M and Laurie is able to arrest Veidt at Karnak.

I was thinking maybe he transferred his power to her long ago but she didnt know she had the power so she didnt know to use it thats why he wanted her too see him walk on water. The egg was just a reminder of the conversation theyd had.
