Yeahhh all of that was because the Russos cut out his origin in Infinity War and to be fair I prefer the MCU Thanos rather than his comic book counterpart 1. he's more relatable and his motives makes sense 2. He snaps half of the universe because he believes that it will bring balance 3. He's doing all of this to save the universe not destroy it and he says he takes no joy in doing so 4. In the comics he was a pawn doing all his evil deeds for the love of Death which is why she doesn't exist in the MCU

Thanos an individual obssesed with population control, there are an unknown number of Planets in EACH galaxy and a completely unknown number of GALAXIES in the Universe. Typical 21st century human thinking in the MCU, A JOKE. While making the next movie Disney needs to bring in some Astronomers, Astrophysicists as technical advisors.

Lol they left out the fact in comics his main motivation for doing what does is his devotion to lady death, and blanent disregard and genocide of life is so he court her and marry her that was biggest one they left out.

He basically wanted to watch the world burn and let their own gods sort them out.
