Original Dune Star Has An Ominous Warning For The 2020 Remake

Actor Kyle MacLachlan has a message for the filmmakers behind the upcoming adaptation of the classic Frank Herbert sci-fi novel Dune: Good luck. MacLachlan starred in the 1984 version of Dune, which was directed by his friend and frequent collaborator, David Lynch. That film was famously impenetrable to mainstream audiences, and while the actor doesn't exactly consider it to be a catastrophe, he acknowledged in a recent interview with IndieWire some of the inherent difficulties in bringing the property to the screen. Slammy555: I felt the 800s Dune missed a lot of the points of the books. When they added in those guns to visually explain Paul's power that was it for me. I think Dune done right would be each group (Bene Gesserit, navigators, Emperor, mentats) getting their own movie explaining their power and purpose all leading to the movie Dune. That's the only way to properly explain his power IMHO.

Dune is the movie that made me a sci-fi nerd. I have seen it 20 or 30 times. I did not watch it with someone else until about a year and a half ago when my girlfriend and I went to see it at a throwback theater night. It was only then that I realized just how terrible Lynch's Dune really is. I love it for its camp and how bad it is now.

I'll tell you right the 2020 film won't probably improve on the soundtrack or the cast but it has potential to improve on everything else (by a wide margin. Give Paul some goddamn struggle for one. don't rush the entire second half of the story for 2.

If you take only dune and one of the previos and following events its just one
But there are a few books (i have 8 of them) instead of only one book if we take in consideration dune history and the main house.

Kyle is absolutely correct, this dune reboot film most likely will not reach the titles potential, it definitely will not compare to the original when I was a kid.

Great movie from the time period. Loved it then and love it still watched it the other day still loved it. Can't wait to see how the new one improves it.

Seeing as how the film is nearly completed the message is a little late. I'm sorry you were in a shitty movie, Kyle, but it's not your project to make.

I've read the book and seen the original a few times. This definitely needs 4 parts (assuming 2 1/2 hours each) to be done right.

Looking forward to it. I must have seen Dune 200 times on HBO back in the day! Watched it everytime it was on which was often!
