If this is really happening, I hope it showcases the best moments from The Silmarillion, followed by several spin-off series like Unfinished Tales, and possibly an ambitious attempt at adapting Tolkien's unfinished sequel, The New Shadow. As both a practicing writer and massive Tolkien fan, I would relish the opportunity to be part of the creative process on this series. And just for good measure, they NEED to get Peter Jackson on board along with the Tolkien Estate.

I thought it was intermated that Balrog's used to be Maia. Everything on Middle-Earth has an opposite. An opposite because Melkor liked turning all the good things bad. Elves to Orcs, Ents to Trolls. etc. Pretty sure there was somewhere where it said that Balrog's came from the Maiar when they were corrupted which would make a lot of sense for Gandalf to be ultra scared of them.

If this series is going to be any good, its going to need good directing and Tolkein-worthy dialogue. One of the Hobbit trilogy's failings was that it lacked good dialogue. The Lord of the Rings was a celebration of the English language.

These books by Tolkien were so good that anyone trying to create something related to this and making a connection with these original films will just ruin it. Please do a favor and let the legendary books and movies rest for good.

Did Amazon ever claim they wanted to connec the timelines? Seems that the story universe is magical enough that whole different stories could be told.
