In the many years since Home Alone's release in 1990, it's become evident that while Kevin McAllister's solo Yuletide adventures are still tremendously fun to watch, there are a lot of things about this film that are a little too bizarre, illogical, or even downright disturbing. If you're a kid watching Home Alone, Kevin's dialogue feels almost aspirational. The things he says to his parents and other family members are the kinds of things we all wished we could say when we were young, but probably never had the nerve to do so. saagi: I was a lot like the pizza guy many times in my life, just not feeling the urge to make a big deal out things that really should have been big deals. That's the way it is with some of us when we're like too busy working and stuff

Yeah, Kevin is a bit of a snarky brat, but I think between the first and second film, it's pretty apparent that he does get 'dumped on', as he puts it. Buzz is the favoured firstborn son who gets away with everything, it seems, and the other kids in the family (extended or otherwise) treat him pretty poorly. Yet he's the only one who ever seems to get in trouble, and it's usually for reacting to provocation, not starting things. The parents are idiots, especially in the second film.
I don't blame a kid for grouching about it TBH. He may be a bit of a brat at times, but considering that his whole family, almost all of them older than him (and in his immediate family he is the youngest) are varying levels of 'jerk', it's not surprising he doesn't give respect. I mean, he tends to treat outsiders pretty well, no? He's generally respectful. He freaks out in some cases, like with Old Man Marley and the Pigeon Lady in the 2nd movie, but he gets over it. He's actually a fairly nice kid usually, it seems. It's just his own family are just so annoying to him that he acts out.
The 'nicest' members of his family are probably his aunt (the enabler, and his mum (who never seems to bother looking into his side of things. His dad is alright, maybe, but he doesn't really take an active role it seems.

The pizza guy not calling the police: i always assumed that he was a teenager who made minimum wage. Probably didn't care about not getting the money for the pizza. He probably told his boss and wasn't believed then fired.
The police not questioning Kevin: it has been awhile, but either the bandits didn't tell about Kevin out of embarrassed or the police didn't believe an 11 year old did all that to two grown men.

I definitely thought of these things as an adult especially wondering how much that mortgage was and what kind of work dad did to take yearly vacations with not just his family but the extended family including freeloading Uncle Frank

I think Old Man Marley unloaded all that information on Kevin because he's lonely and kids have a different perspective than fellow adults.

What about when the mother calls the police from France and the male crisis center cop says his name is Sgt. Balzac (ball sack )

WRONG. Kevin overheard the crooks say they would be back at 9pm. So he DID know when they would return to throw his Party
