I think that's a logic related to watch things both on horizontal or vertical devices in many different aspect ratios, such as smartphones and the overall downfall of movies theaters and the rise of mobile devices to watch stuff. plus the pandemic and online streaming making that more relevant. but yeah. artistic. ok.

Let's be honest - the Snyder Cut is only good when compared to a crap-fest like the Whedon cut. It's still a bad movie, and self-indulgent garbage like 4: 3 formatting only makes it worse.
