Why Lightyear Bombed At The Box Office

Why Lightyear Bombed At The Box Office

video description

Rating: 4.5; Vote: 2
Lightyear is in theaters, and its opening weekend was anything but interstellar. With weak box office numbers on Father s Day weekend, the movie, which has been in development for quite some time, failed to grab audiences in the way that Pixar and Disney likely expected. Inspired by the Toy Story movies, this latest entry in the long-running franchise deviates significantly from its source material. But the change in style is the least of the challenges for Lightyear. A controversial casting decision, an ill-suited release date, and marketing blunders everywhere contributed to the less than overwhelming opening weekend for the film. Keep watching, because this is why Lightyear bombed at the box office.

Honestly if they would have gotten the story right and kept things true to The story that they laid out as the background(which was fairly well told in the animated series) then I think this would ve been a really good movie.
But sadly the passion to try and change up everything to fit the cultural standards of today have yet again hurt this movie. Don t give me wrong it s great when things progress, but if you re going to forget the past in order to progress to the future then we re going to regress even further. Honestly I ll probably watch it on Disney+ when it becomes free, but as of right now it has no pull for me to spend my money directly on it.
I honestly would ve rather seen another Wall-E movie, or even Incredibles 3 over them wasting time on such a rundown property.
All I wish is that Disney would wake up and start making quality animation again, maybe even throw in a bit of hand drawn. Show what the art form truly has to offer. Or better yet just make a new story, maybe even a story that can fit this progressive narrative that they re trying to state. See if it works and if it doesn t maybe pull back on the Woke-ism stuff. Maybe it s time to just start telling stories as opposed to trying to push messages.

There are many reasons why people aren t watching lightyear. Did you guys ever think that people also just can t afford or aren t willing to spend the extra money on the movies? For a family to go to the movies the ticket s alone cost 30-50 depending on how many not including anything else and that s all to watch a movie ONCE and is gonna be uploaded on Disney Plus in a couple months anyways. That is why people aren t going to the movies anymore. I haven t seen a disney movies in the theatre s since Finding Dory. Why would i when they are just gonna stream it in a couple months. Marvel movies are gonna head down that path too if they don t be careful. Casual fans aren t even gonna feel motivated to watch it in the theatre if its gonna be free on the app in 2 months.

Lightyear should have been inspired by old 50s pulps, like Dan Dare, Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers. Instead of that, they tried to ape interstellar and the failed miserably. The old Star Command cartoon wasn't perfect but it handled the concept WAY better than this thing. Also, SPOILER making Zurg and Buzz the same person because of time travel shenanigans is the WORST IDEA EVER. Zurg is supposed to be an alien evil emperor. In this movie he's not alien, he's not evil and he's not an emperor. He's not even a character, but an empty suit. I'm sad and extremely dissapointed.

Honestly I loved it. It wasn t saturated in political messages, the armor, suits, uniforms and ships were all unique. The action was intense and it got real emotional at certain parts and Chris evans did a great job I honestly couldn t envision Cap A. There is some incompetence that bugged me throughout the move from the side characters. Overall 9/10. Can t wait for a spin off when this buzz fights Xenomorphs and Aliens or Crashes the Star Wars saga. I could see it.

The elephant in the room is that people, especially black people are tired of this agenda being pushed on us & tired of white people right/left wing making us the face of it when. We cant even watch TV without some sort of agenda in it. You know the agenda. Why can't we have a loving black couple like spiderman into the multiverse. The people who grew up to this are grown now & that little agenda that these people are promoting aren't as popular IRL as they think.

not to mention the real reason people didn't because of Disney straight to the face slap treating there bigger audience like they are nothing and try to force there ajenda on us and look what happened it always come to this either it flops or have a mixed reviews an example the latest doctor strange movie that's why you should stop using entertainment as a tool for your agendas

This is a typical liberal take by ignoring what could be a large part of the problem. Not only is Disney alienating people by getting involved with politics, they are including their politics in their films. A company that has families as their main customers is playing with fire. I suspect their stockholders and board of directors might start making changes soon.

Or maybe it was all the woke bs (that did nothing to add to the film) Disney put into a childrens movie that was set in 1995. Seems looper conveniently forgot to mention that. Let s blame everything else why things are not and not the real reasons, hoping people won t figure out the truth. Bunch of asshats looper has turned into.

In Finland, Lightyear became the second most watched film of its opening week after TG: Maverick and narrowly won Jurassic World: Dominion in terms of viewership. The price of tickets may also have to do with this, as Maverick is the cheapest to watch of these films in Finnish cinemas and Lightyear's ticket price is medium.

How about the fact that Disney has made there political ideology public, in the worst of ways. Disney has allowed there actors, and directors, to bash fans based on their beliefs. General audiences disagree with the path Disney has taken. I believe we will see more of this in the future, when it comes to Disney films.
