There Are Only 12 Near-Perfect Horror Movies According To Metacritic
video description
Rotten Tomatoes is not a very good movie rating site. Instead of quality films being given high ratings the ratings themselves are by folks who constantly go to the theater to see films. These kinds of people make awful critics. They are oversaturated with self indulgent ideals. Completely detached from accurately measuring quality in films. Same applies to any form of art or entertainment and so called Critics.
This is why The Thing failed at the box office (ET was in Theaters) and is not on this list.
Looper also falls into that crowd of fart sniffing movie goers.

Always thought it was impressive how King Kong's fur subtly blew around int he wind. Came to find out, 'twas actually special effect artist's fingerprints! Edit: I would like to add that when my mom saw Invasion of the Body Snatchers in the theaters as a 12 year old, she refused to leave her seat after the movie was over. She was literally petrified with fear. She wouldn't touch her feet to the ground. The cinema had to call her dad (my grandfather) to come pick her up, and carry her out of the movie theater.

Come and See is a horror movie that is not a horror movie. The whole film is a horror. On that note, Threads and The Day After are limited television mini-series that are not horror shows, but both are extremely scary from beginning to end.

The one movie that was unbearable for me to watch was Martyrs (2008.
I don't want to rewatch it or recommend it but I do think it's the most disturbing, distressing movie I've seen, I took breaks in between to cool off haha.

Seen them all, and aside from Psycho, I'm calling bullsh! t on all these others being anything close to perfect horror movies. Hell, aside from Psycho and Rosemary's Baby, the others weren't even the least bit scary.
