Why Elemental Bombed At The Box Office

Why Elemental Bombed At The Box Office

Pixar's Elemental appears to have flamed out at the box office. What factors, exactly, led audiences to throw cold water on the prospects of this charming-looking animated flick from a once-reliable studio? Fenris: Disney s productions have been declining after Avengers Endgame. Marvel s movies and shows are not focusing on the stories from the comics and are trying to bring social issues from real life. The abysmal horror that is the she hulk show is the poster child example. The pixar films are hit and miss. Encanto was good. Lightyear was meh. The moral of the story is Disney is losing it s skill, and I am starting to get disappointed.

Of course Looper gets it wrong again.
Also, The Little Mermaid didn t even break even, despite leftwing media trying so hard to make people believe the movie was #1 and breaking all kinds of records
You didn t even mention the fact many people don t like Disney anymore. You didn t mention the fact that the only reason why The Little Mermaid didn t flame out as bad, DOMESTICALLY, was because black people made sure to go see it for cultural reasons.
There is a culture war going on, Disney is a damaged brand. People are getting tired of leftwing/identity politics being the primary themes in movies. Disney didn t market this movie as much as others because most of their marketing budget was spent on The Little Mermaid. They wanted to make sure the movie succeeds despite the backlash for blackwashing Ariel.

Here is the actual answer.
We want to be entertained when we spend money.
This new movie is another in a long line of recent movies/shows that is made just to preach to the audience.
That is a no-go. It's simple. We do not want that. It's actually wierd that studios can't get that figured out.
We simply want to be entertained.

I saw this trailer an thought it was gonna be preachy af about how it s ok to date outside ur element AKA race an how each element had stereotypes HAHA so funny it s just like people! No. I rolled my eyes watching the trailer. I don t think any adult with kids would pick to watch that over Spiderman anyway.

I watched Elemental, and it was great. Even if it bombed, I think Elemental was an amazing movie that displays a new style of Pixar s incredible animation. The way Wade and Ember were animated and the environmental design around them feels vibrant and joyous to all audiences.

I might rent/stream it if I m bored one day, but honestly, just seemed like the typical drivel being put out that has already been done better by movies not just a while ago, but recent. Hardly worth theater pricing with such low reviews and lack of public interest.

Just based on seeing the trailer, it looked like it would be too preachy, like its one of those animated family movies that puts the message ahead of just being cute and funny. I'll watch it when it's streaming, but I wasn't interested enough to pay for theater.

Honestly I went and took my children to this yesterday. This movie was done rather well and the visiuals had me second guessing if it was real water or not in some parts. Being a 40yr old male, found this very enjoyable even to me. This is one to watch.

1. bad release time (tons of movies to choose from it's opening weekend)
2. Audiences are conditioned to wait to stream Pixar films
3. Vocal minority boycotting Disney
4. Little marketing for film
5. Film couldn't get a lot of premium screenings

reply

what i dont get is how animated films now a days have to have film actors as voices. what happened to the days when an animated film just sought good sounding voices. actors get paid enough. voice actors should be voicing animated films
reply

First didnt even know it was out the marketing was horrible.
Second. can Disney/Pixar move past the sales pitch of what if inanimate objects. had feelings? Let's leave that alone for a little while.

Those elementals creatures aren t cute at all. Should have just gone with 4 divine beasts that could incorporate the elementals and be a cute animal, like a white tiger or vermillion bird

This summer is full of blockbusters, people had to make a choice and Elemental and Flash are the big loosers against Spiderman, The little mermaid and even Transformers
reply

Bro, did I seriously hear you say that the little mermaid was the box office hit with families? it literally bond at the box office. What are you talking about?
reply

I could only imagine what the interactions with Wade and Ember and WildeHopps would be like if I could only meet them IRL inside of the world of the internet
reply

I liked this movie, it wasn't spectacular but it was cute and had a good message. Might have done better on a steaming site though to be honest.

The movie was pretty bland, turned to my wife and we both agree it was boring, the animated short before this film was way better
reply

I didn't take my family cuz of all the LGBT stuff in the movie I'm going to spend my money on something else that simply
