What The SAG-AFTRA, WGA Double Strike Really Means For Hollywood
video description
I bet everything in my bank account that AI can write much better scripts for tv shows and movies much better then a human can and at the fraction of the cost making tv shows and movies cheaper to make while there s more money to be earned.

For both writers and actors, a higher pay rate may be negotiable. Royalties for streaming content isn t impossible, but it is nigh improbable, since that would preclude public exposure of any true revenue instead of inflated numbers used to dupe shareholders and bolster streaming performance.
But there is one concession that will never EVER be amicable or even approached: AI. Hollywood is dead set, laser focused on using this new tech to increase their shot term profits (before selling themselves to even bigger conglomerates. As of right now, say goodbye to the roles of extras, and I don t just mean faceless CGI armies clashing in yet another generic battlefield, I mean silent roles that used to earn an initiate a SAG card. Also start mourning the advent of reshoots. Once a likeness and voice are digitally captured, stars no longer need to renegotiate time and earning to fix a story in post, now characters and backgrounds alike can just be recreated, and actors who usually don t keep tabs on who shot what and where will just assume a finished scene is authentic when it actually was created digitally.
As bad as that gets for actors, it ll only be exponentially worse for writers. Can anyone name five famous screenwriters of the top of one s head? Not writer-directors, I mean just writers. Pretty soon, screenwriters will assume the lesser, cheaper role of script doctors, polishing multitudes of AI originations whipped up in seconds flat. And considering current blockbuster trends, what audiences can or would even want to tell the difference?
In either instance, all it would take is mere public acceptance of any exposure of AI use, and then it s all over. Hollywood will have been given carte blanche to manufacture as they please, and the Blockbuster Age will give way to the new AI Age. Game over for storytelling artists, man. Independents will have to rely on A24 and the like to create anything at all.
And that s being optimistic

Nothing good on TV for years and now most new shows- steam! Dig more money out of the customers! Want good shows, pay more to stream them! Been in union several times! All they care about is the money that goes in their pocket! They get paid if your working or not! Every time (I do mean, every time) we got a raise, the union dues went up and the medical dues went up! Worked grave yard shift at trucking company. Got our pay check- short a dollar less per- hour! Called union rep! Oh you know companies having troubles trying to help. We agreed to the pay cut. A few checks later, another dollar less per hour. Again called the rep, trying to help company. Asked him come up here and talk to us. No we re in LA, drive down here, want to talk! Our dues never went down! The owner had three of his house up for collateral! If showed a profit in 3 or some months, release the houses. Was laid off! Around four or five months later went out of business. The employees and independent truckers, didn t get paid. But the owner got his houses and the union collected their money! They still collect money, when they put a company out of business! All the union members nation wide!

I really feel for those people who get hundreds of thousands or millions per episode for working maybe 8 months of the yr meanwhile someone is working 9hrs a day 5-6 days a week 12 months of the yr for 20k. Yep im so sorry for the hard life the actors have. A no name actor with zero audience draw obviously cannot ask for the same as a named actor.

I hope that we see the rise of independent studios who are not afraid to create great entertainment and show these people that they aren't worth the time and money they think they are. We just saw Sound of Freedom break records, and I am sure there are others waiting to do it as well. Bring on the competition and make great entertainment again.

I d love to see all the actors and writers come together and form their own studio(s, so they can afford themselves the quality of life they re now striking for.
Then, they make it impossible for any of the big studios to hire them and bring that cabal to its knees. Over simplified I know, but in principle, this d be a very satisfying outcome.

I fully support actors and writters. They just do honorable job. Honest, living. The best movies and shows are from 90's and 80's. Begining of 2000's too. I like retro too Tv house owners and CEO's are just money grabbing thieves. All in their pocket, butt in the chair

The #1 fact is the 1% is the Hollywood A list stars. The 99% of actor and actresses are the middle to low class.
Why not also stop paying a few millions of dollars, and give a living wage to everyone that works in the industry.

I have to be honest. The movies and television shows were better overall in the 80s & 90s. Hopefully once they settle their differences The writers specifically will step their game up on coming up with better quality scripts!

AI is a threat and is definitely strike worthy. Anyone who doesn t understand the stakes should watch Black Mirror episode Joan is Awful to understand the AI issue for writers and actors. Standing with WGA/SAG-AFTRA.

To be honest I'm like I feel bad for the actors directors on the writers like they deserve pay really well. And this is like sucks like give them what they want and then that way they can go back the way they were come on

Kick them all to the curb. None of them are worth the prices they get. Let chat gpt and AI write and animate everything. Hollywood can gtfo! Animation is great in Japan, we will learn to love it, too.
