Not all kids movies are totally appropriate for kids, though as young children they mightve not understood these terrifying concepts! Remember the evil toys coming to life in Small Soldiers? That pets can be killed in All Dogs Go to Heaven? That board games can be deadly in Jumanji? and that you can be hunted by witches in The Witches? Take a look at our list of the Top 10 Kids' Movie Concepts that are Actually TERRIFYING!

The wizard of oz is messed up. So messed up. The actor for Dorothy, was forced to go on a diet of a bowl of soup and 8 packs of cigarettes a day, just because they wanted her to be so disgustingly skinny. One of the actors HUNG THEMSELVES ON SET WHILE THE CAMERA WAS ROLLING. IT MADE IT INTO THE FINAL CUT.

Well I think grave of the fireflies is probably the most terrifying movie because it literally shows children in a realistic setting starving to death on screen and their parents have also died and they lost their home technically everything you know. reality it's the literal scariest.

I didnt understand that Coraline was terrifying when I was younger when I watched it so I think that might be the reason why they put it kid friendly. But now its a terrifying movie that I probably wont watch the full movie ever again!

Coraline came out when I was in 2nd grade, just the trailer was enough to scare me away from the actual movie. I even had a nightmare where Barney the dinosaur got button eyes and chased Coraline and a blonde girl through a cemetery!

Everyone's on here saying Coraline is scary, pfft try growing up in the 80's and 90's, 'Who framed Roger Rabbit? Christopher Lloyd's character Judge Doom was terrifying, ya'll don't know what scary is when you see shit like that.

Coraline was a good movie. I dont remember being scared from it. It is spooky but not too spooky for someone to be really scared. It is underrated in my opinion. If you are scared of Coraline then just probably stop watching it.

I keep reading these comments saying Coraline is terrifying. I totally get it, but i watched this movie as a five year old, and I still love it! Maybe thats because I watched horror movies growing up but whatever.

I was terrified of Caroline, but I must be tough because I watched the witches when I was 10 and didn't think it was scary. Actually, that might be because I had read the book a couple of times before.

Jumanji freaked me out. But not what you think would freak me out. It was the giant mosquitoes!
But since we rented it at night. I went and watched it again the next morning, I love that movie.

The Adventures of Mark Twain scared the hell out of me as a child, the scene with the Mysterious Stranger A. K. A. Satan freaked me out. That whole movie was a nightmare fueled mess!

Coraline is not a movie for kids. It's an horror movie. I don't know why people keep believing that because it's animated, it's for kids.

I REALLY loved the concept for Coraline. Also, the decision to make it stop-motion instead of live action was genious.
