These are thetop 5 differences between Disney and Pixar movies! Lets start with the art. One of the simplest methods of determining whether a film is made by Disney or Pixar is to look at the art or animation. The singing: Disney animated films are almost always musicals, meaning that the characters are the ones doing the singing. Plot, character development, and atmosphere are all frequently expressed through the form of song; adding to the sense of atmosphere of the films and filling the audiences heads with catchy lyrics that stay in our minds for decades

1. Pixar almost always had 3D animation. Disney relied on hand drawn with a hit of 3D and gorgeous colors. While Disney shows use slightly different artstyles: Tangled Before Ever After
2. Pixar doesnt always have a special song. Almost every Disney production has at least 1 if not a musical, with Atlantis the Lost Empire being the only princess film with the only lyrical song at the end credits, though Atlantis was deliberately made as a testing for the first Disney princess without a love song
3. Pixar tends to focus more on realistic endings: Carl lets go of his house and Ellie never got to Paradise Falls in person, Toy Story 3 and 4 Woody lets go of Andy and eventually his partner in crime Buzz. Pixar is almost more designed about their children audiences growing up. Disney focuses on a variety of happily ever afters, including the bittersweet endings of Pocahontas and the Hunchback of Notre Dame, which in a way are set a bit more realistic
4. Pixar has a variety of different stories, while Disney has capitalized on reinterpretations of both true and fairytales, more specifically headstrong women.
5. Pixar doesnt always do sequels no matter how popular or successful the movie was. Disney started in the Renaissance (90s) with Disney Home Videos, again raking in extra profit on huge successes with the best being Lion King 2, Return of Jafar, and Little Mermaid 2, while undoubtedly the worst 2 were Pocahontas 2 and Hunchback of Notre Dame 2
6. Pixar does not have a death or missing parent (no Andys dad doesnt count as the directors confirmed there was no need for a dad) while in Disney normally either the mother or even a close relative normally ends up passing, or with Tarzan having multiple: his birth parents, Kerchek and Kallas own baby, and Kerchek.

I hate the fact that Disney has black and white morality.
It seems like they always assume villains are pure evil and heroes are all good.
Most villains had their reasons and did not start off evil until others messed with them. Most villains dont deserve to suffer horrible deaths just because they did a few bad things.
The only Disney movie that displayed a lot of gray morality was Treasure Planet.
Its also the only Disney movie that has the main villain save the hero from death.
I think WatchMojo/MsMojo should make a top 10 reformed Disney villains list.

To me the thing with pixar is that all of their outdoor details look realistic or semi realistic. Pixar is also more modernist in the majority of their films. Their styles are mostly based in the 60s to the early 2000s. Disney tries too hard to make the movies fantasy related or European 19th century and previously done art styles.
Pixar has little to no villains and mostly has environmental antagonists. Even the majority of the bad guys aren't the antagonist because they are just acting normally so the character has to fight the environment and less of a person.

I found the Pixar could never really make good villains most of the time. Once in a while you get a fun one like Syndrome from The Incredibles or Lotso from Toy Story 3 and also the villain from Coco but they're still not up there with Jafar or Maleficent. Which is way I like how some movies work around the need for a villain. Brave is my favorite Pixar movie because of the story and characters and there's no villain just a guy who like Merida didn't see the full picture in what he asked for. I even like how Monster University don't have a villain just a jerk.

See I always try to compare things and see which is better out of the two I compared DC VS Marvel and came to the Conclusion that even tho Marvel make better films DC is a better company and I also did Mass effect VS Halo and I decided mass effect is better than Halo and I've done that with lots of other things but I've never been able to decide which is better Pixar or Disney like even tho Pixar do make slightly better movies Pixar probably wouldn't even exist without Disney I rlly can't choose between them

I am commenting on this vid instead of the ones that caught my attention. In the LGBTQ characters, Teen drama ships, and ESPECIALLY in top 10 gay Male ships, the Malec fandom are not happy! There are so many people who want Malec to be in one of your videos! I really hope they are included soon, and if not do a top 10 shadowhunters moments! (TV show not movie) because it covers themes of LGBT, racist discrimination, men showing emotion, powerful women etc and it would make the fandom really happy!

what about their use to create studio in-jokes like disney with it's cameos of characters from past films or hidden mickeys or pixar with its use to recycle trademark icons from its Pizza Planet Truck from Toy Story showing up in each film or its use to cast Cheers' John Ratzenberger as their good luck charm.

My family is 100% Disney neards. My friend was at my house one day and I asked her if he would like to watch a movie. We decided on Moana. In the middle of the movie my parents came home and were This movie is really good. And my friend goes Duuuh! It's PIXAR!
And we were like Go home.

No its not hard to tell apart Disney and Pixar's style. 1 Pixar's concept art is biased on hand drawn pictures too. They have to draw everything before the 3d to save money ignoramus do proper research. 2) Disney princesses all have the same body types and every one has giant eyes.
reply

Another distinctive characteristic of Pixar is the fact that they tend to 'recycle' their music, or make new ones out of it. One notable example is Toy Story and Monsters Inc.
You'll really know that it's Pixar once you hear the music; they also tend to be emotional.

The main difference is that 90% Pixar movies are guaranteed to make you cry. Disney movies just make you feel like what the hell were our parents thinking letting us watch this as children. Also how is this rated G this is clearly not a G rated movie.

I used to be able to tell the difference between pixar and any other cgi films (ie: shrek, madagascar) because of sheer quality of computer animation. But ever since John lasseter took over, its obvious that disney animation has caught up
reply

Unlike regular Disney movies, movies by Pixar always have a specific to them.
Toy Story: Toys
A Bug's Life: Bugs
Monsters, Inc. : Monsters
Finding Nemo: Fish
The Incredibles: Superheroes
And so on.

wait, Pixar's setting is grounded more in reality? living cars, desolated garbage earth, under the sea, in a ant hive, in magical medieval scotland? ON A HOUSE FLYING WITH BALLOONS?
reply

While Disney is focused on the 2D, magic, singing & etc while Pixar is focused on the CGI like Sonic Unleashed (7th gen), little serious, energetic and funny like Sonic Lost World, & etc.
reply

Here's a difference:
Disney's overall goal is to make money, and Pixar's main goal is to give people memorable characters that teach good morals.

reply

Disney also is more classical theme, and Pixar is more modern. Disney focuses on a main character centric, while Pixar is more about groups of people.
reply

They got only one thing in common they're coming from Disney and besides their differences I'm a fan of both Disney and Pixar.
reply

Pixney, Disnar, they're ll the same to me, they both make great movies I can enjoy over and over again and that's all I care about!
reply

Zootopia and Wreck It Ralph is Disney but resembles Pixar while Coco is Pixar and sounds like Disney because it is a musical.
reply

Another difference is that Pixar has original ideas, and most of Disney's movies come from public owned stories
reply

I like more Pixar studios its just amazing I love Pixar and Monsters inc and Finding Nemo are my favorite movies
reply

Someone here obviously prefers Pixar. could you be less percivable about that? And yes, I prefer Disney.
reply

you cant compare pixar to disney. disney has more soul. and the drawnings are more colorful with life
reply

Disney is way more interesting than Pixar because Pixar isn't captivating or well rounded like Disney
