I love both movies I cant choose, Emma Watson did a pretty good job, and its not always her fault why the movie doesnt seem good at certain points, because she has nothing to do with how the movie is put together, all she worries about is her own character. Here is what I dislike in the new version, first off in the original version Belles voice is more natural and just goes with the songs better, in the new version you can tell Belles voice is edited and auto tuned and it just doesnt sound the same. But Emma still has an incredible voice in general, and another thing is that everyone one else whos in the new version doesnt sing as smoothly as the original, and sometimes their notes are a little off key, idk about Gaston really? I feel like hes not as mean to Lafou, usually hed just push Lafou around and not listen to anything he says, but in the new version Lafou calms him down sometimes, and I wish that they had the same pattern on the Ms. Potts and Chip design, and Belle seems less princess and more tough, she wairs boots and not black slippers, she doesnt even wear a bow which is not that big of a deal I dont guess, and Maurice also seems more tough and less gentle, and I would have liked to see Gaston juggling those eggs, but I know that wouldve been difficult, and Gastons outfit kind of reminds me of Captain Hook tbh, and I dont feel like Belle really taught the beast to be a better person or taught him to read or any of that like the original because in this one he already new how to do that stuff because he had an expensive education, and when the beast transformed into a human it didnt seem as magical, the music in the original was more magic and it actually show his face transform into a human I didnt really show any of that in this one.

The biggest crime about the 2017 rendition is how they took important scenes and shortened them. For reals, just look at the West Wing scenes back to back where in the original, that's over 2 minutes long, where Belle takes her time, she looks at everything with curiosity, she's interested. When she see's the rose, she goes up to it, removes the protective glass, and is about to touch it until the beast shows up, causing her to jump. Without a word, she rushes over, puts the glass back over the rose, then looks at Belle, of of which takes a good 10 seconds of pure silence between Belle and the Beast before he starts talking, slowly raising his voice as Belle tries to explain herself while also showing legitimate fear before Beast screams at her, causing her to run while he starts destroying things, then after he realizes what he did, shows true remorse. This interaction in total took around 30 seconds. Now, that may not seem like much, but in the remake, the time it takes for the Beast to show up, head to the Rose, yell at Beast, than scare her off is less than 10 seconds long. I'm sorry, but that's awful, and that's only a taste of the major pacing problems in the remake where there's a lot more scenes that were shortened EVEN THOUGH the movie is 30+ minutes longer than the animated masterpiece.

How is it feminist for Belle to stand up for herself? Just because someone has a boyfriend or a husband does not mean they're dependent on them. I'm not a feminist, nor do I support the feminist movement in any way, but they're all acting like they came up with all this stuff. Every woman throughout the years has stood up for themselves when they needed to; the ones who haven't make up such a small percentage, they're not worth mentioning.
You don't need to be a strong, powerful, independent woman to know how to defend yourself in the extremely rare chance someone were to mug you in an alleyway.
I'm single right now, but in the future I would love to get married. That doesn't mean I NEED a husband, it means I would like someone to share my life with. I don't go around looking for a guy, but I don't go around bragging about not needing one either.

One of my favorite differences that wasnt mentioned was the reason why the Beast imprisoned Maurice. In the original film, the Beast imprisoned him just because he was trespassing. In the newer film, he imprisoned him because he stole a rose. He saw Maurice as merely an elderly man who got lost in the woods and figured would move on if he had some food and a chance to warm himself up, which was true, but didnt count on the old man stealing a rose. This was exactly what happened in the original fairy tale that was written in 1740 in France. I know this because growing up, I had a storybook that was pretty much the shortened version of the original fairy tale (this was my all time favorite story growing up, and it still is) and it was real different than the Disney version. Then again, the Disney films are always different than the original legends/fairy tales

Here are the things I like about both
Original:
Nostalgia
The Beast isn't as hateble in the beginning
Belle has a better singing voice
The non villain songs
The female characters sound better
The final battle feels more like an actual battle.
Remake:
Both Gaston and LeFou were handled amazingly in fact I'm going to say this right now. The remake versions of Gaston and LeFou were better than the original counterparts
The villain songs
The male cast members did an amazing job
We don't need to worry about the Enchantress ( aka the real villain of Beauty and the Beast) cursing an 11 year old for being rude about an appearance that she fabricated.

I actually loved a lot of additions and details in 2017 one more than the 1991 one. Of course the original will always be the original, but the 2017 one was a REALLY good live action remake. It had the magical feeling, I LOVED Evermore, How does a moment last forever, Days in the sun, Paris of my childhood and of course the 2017 version of the ballroom scene+Beauty and the Beast song. The ending actually made me cry (and of course emotional too, if not cry) which the 1991 version failed to. Just accept the fact that both are great and move on. Don't stay stuck on this one when live action remakes like Mulan exist

Beauty in the Beast has always been my favorite movie and tale so, Of course I love the original, but when the live action came out, I was so excited. even more when I saw the cast and the singers like Beyonce Celine etc.
Seeing changes like new songs, the different curse, the new scenes like the book's, the enchantress's and lefou's different character, the most accurate story of the beast childhood and the fact we know more about belle's mother. this
makes this movie even more mature and it's definitely accurate for the year it came out.
it's definitely more realistic and I love this.

4: 54 That is, so far, the ONLY time I actually broke down sobbing out loud in theaters. Usually Im able to control myself in public crowds and keep my sobbing contained to just a soft cry until Im alone and then I can let it all out, but Dan Stevenss performance was just so heartfelt and flawless that it instantly pulled at my heartstrings & it broke me in an instant! But thankfully some kids in close proximity to me were getting noisy so no one was really paying all that much attention to me

I love ALL of the differences in these videos. The original video is as old as me and its been one of my all time favorites for as far back as I can remember (which is when I was 5, the newer film was so much more beautiful and magical and made me cry even more. I also love how the soundtrack music is the same, the songs are extended, and there are new songs

And in the new version the completely omitted the marriage proposal. they made it sooo different: . the beast in 2017 was so plain and Ugly while the 1991 beast was full fluffy and had different shades of brown. lol i know im being picky but. that did not look like the beast. and then they did even give Belle a tour of the castle -___-

10 the beast is more refined 9 belle isn't as feminie 8 mrs Potts isnt as well cute 7 the magic book doesn't work 4 me 6 liked lefou more gay or not 5 enchantress was she needed? 4 gaston is less evil i thought 3 dont like the new songs just slow down the film 2 like the beast singing more 1 the villagers are more nasty
reply

The magical book was in the real novel I remember or there was something similar like magical horse or gloves I guess
And I think the idea of Enchantress taking care of Belle's father is references to real story when she met Belle at the end and tell her that she is her niece(so the enchantress is Belle's aunt.

reply

Personaly I like the remake more. Kinda because of LeFou's character change, the enchantres's change, the song changes (espessially Evermore and mob song), Gaston's more evil, how we learn about Belle's mother, the opening scene and more
But if you prefer the original then that's ok

When the young prince was singing when his mother had passed I cried because I am a mother of a son myself. Furthermore, he and I have a very strong bond. I couldn't help, but think of my son and I in that scene. Just typing this comment I have tears rolling down my face.

I love them both, but the original transformation of Beast was way more emotional, but the newer one the furniture dying was sadder! In the new one he transformed so quickly-would've been nice to see the slowness of the hands changing etc like the original! xx
reply

I really wish they would've keep the story the same, the changed that the beast actually let her to her father and return to save the beast from Gaston. and they did show inside the caste as much as the movie did. why change a movie that was already sooooo good!
reply

I grew up with the 1991 movie but I just love the 2017 movie way more. It feels more full in the story and the songs are amazing. The live action music feels more full. It's also so emotional that no matter how many times I watch it, I still cry.

The reason Belle was the inventor in the new film is because Emma Watson stated herself in a buzzfeed interview that they weren't gonna use the inventor idea for Maurice and so Emma suggested if they could use it on Belle and so they did so.
reply

One thing a lot of people forget is that in some of the earlier versions of the tale the (beast) prince was only age 10 when cursed and was told he had until his 18th birthday to find a maiden to not just fall in love with but marry.
reply

I noticed another big difference between the two movies: In The Original Animated Beauty And The Beast, Gaston only took Men to storm The Castle. In The Live Action Remake however, Gaston invites both Men AND Women in his Angry Mob.
reply

The biggest difference is that 1991 has Belle and 2017 has plain & horrible Emma. I still dont get how any of the staff let her singing pass through. Grhhhh Disney should have hired Anne Hathaway or Emmy Rossum for Belle
reply

10 years weve been rusting went over my head when I was a kid. I know he was cursed as an adult but why would Lumiere say that in the song having the beast be a kid? Sounds kinda messed up but Im happy 2017 fixed it
reply

I love the 91. But the 17 helped flesh out the characters more. And my favorite scene? When Maurice flat out tells Gaston he will never marry Belle. I also enjoy it when the Enchantress saves his life.
reply

did you do a video with the differences between the remake of the original Disney Cinderella and the live remake? Or one with the differences between the original Lady and the Tramp and the remake?
reply

I think that the 1991 is so much more better then the 2017 version. I'm a person who likes the original better then the new version. Anyway, Paige O' Hara did a much better job. Well to me!
reply

Luke Evens / gaston is right about the beast he is a monster and a creter so Emma Winston / belle should marry gaston the beast is a creter so gaston and Blle live happy ever after
reply

The number one change I love is the couple Lumiere and Plumette. In the animated movie, they werent together that much until the it was made in 2017 and finally kiss on screen
reply

Ill never understand why people blow dust from inside the book. Like, what book gathers dust from sealed pages if its never opened? The cover I can understand, but the pages?
reply

The 1991 Beast was more dreading, like you feared to be close to that monstrosity. 2017 Beast just felt like a man in a body suit. No tension + no horror element behind it.
reply

In Beauty and the Beast 2, they did that opening scene (how the prince turned into a beast. Its different because he was only 11 years old in that scene in animated version
