I am not bothered by winners getting a Daytime Emmy over a Primetime, but what does bother me is when certain people cheat the system and basically undermines the hustle of everyone else's EGOT. Biggest examples would be people like Cynthia Erivo from the Color Purple, Katrina Lenk from the Band's Visit, and Ben Platt from Dear Evan Hansen. They all won their Tony's for their respective Musical, cool. Good for them. They won the Grammy for Best Musical Theathre Album, alright I suppose. However, winning a Daytime Emmy for performing their musical on a TV special? How is that fair. You're rewarding these people with an exclusive title as a Master of Theater, Music, and Television for One single performance? That's bit right. Every EGOT has won their slam dunk by finding success in a minimum of 4 different projects across all the different fields of the entertainment industry, and u mean to tell me people like them get to 75% EGOT with 1 performance. That's just lazy. Thankfully those people are not going to be winning Academy awards any time soon

Just for anyone who is about to comment about known EGOTS, Barbra Streisand and Liza Minnelli are not actually EGOTs because they have not won all 4 awards competitively. Barbras Tony is a non-competitive Special Tony and Lizas Grammy is a non-competitive Special Grammy. James Earl Jones isnt one either (his Oscar is an Honorary Oscar, neither are Alan Menken (Special Emmy, Harry Belafonte (Humanitarian Oscar, or Quincy Jones (Humanitarian Oscar. Richard Rogers, Helen Hayes, Rita Moreno, John Gielgud, Audrey Hepburn, Marvin Hamlisch, Jonathan Tunick, Mel Brooks, Mike Nichols, Whoopi Goldberg, Scott Rudin, and Robert Lopez are the 12 competitive winning EGOTs.
Also I forgot to mention that Robert Lopez just got his second Oscar nomination today. If he wins hell be the only EGOT to have won all 4 awards more than once.

Also, Barbra Streisand became the first female EGOT winner in 1970 (at age 28) years before Helen Hayes and Rita Moreno. If youre going to count spoken word Grammys and daytime Emmys, then you should certainly count HONORARY Oscars, Tonys and Grammys, unquestionably more prestigious and rarely awarded. That makes 20 winners, not 12. Sloppy, inconsistent reporting.

Going by this, EGOT should only be for composers and singers who could win with a song in one awards season as in the case of Lopez and Adele's but actors whose wins could span across decades should be made irrelevant.

This means theyre the only two people to have simultaneously won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony and won the Emmy, Oscar, and Tony in acting categorites. An EGOT is not an EGOT unless you win a major category (ie acting director best picture for Oscar. A spoken word Grammy or comedy album does not count. Sorry whoop.
