These female musicians really deserve more credit! For this list, were looking at underrated female voices from every genre of music. To be clear, these songstresses dont need to be underrated in general, only that their voices in particular dont receive enough appreciation. For this list weve included musicians like Rita Ora, Kesha, Miley Cyrus, Jojo and more!

What about Brittney Spears? I know she used to be popular but she has sort of faded. And Demi, really? She gets a lot of credit for her beautiful voice. And so does Lady Gaga. I don't think Pink gets enough credit for that incredible voice. She sung upside down on live T. V for crying out loud! But I am so happy that Jessie J, aka queen, got number 1. She definitely doesn't get enough for that strong, passionate and all round amazing talent of hers.

Christina Aguilera? Hello, she was always overshadowed and beat out by Britney. despite the fact that she was obviously the stronger vocalist and lets not forget how underrated Bionic, Lotus & Liberation was, yes barely any promo was apart of it but Bionic couldve had so many hit and the Bionic Tour wouldve been so freaking awesome. Definitely has been underrated for a long time and should be on this list

Someone who has always been underrated as a singer is Jewel. Most people know her simply as the cute blonde folk singer with the funny tooth but her vocal skills are phenomenal! She has incredible range from the highest to the lowest notes, can scat with the best jazz singers and can even yodel!

Does anyone know of any videos ranking good female singers with live performances/without autotune, including all eras? I'm thinking Nana and Lara are pretty special and would love to see more people introduced to them, among others like Judith Durham, Karen Carpenter, etc.

Yeah my vote is for Faouzia a true artist who sings in three languages and plays as much as four instruments and is a magical songwriter and academic and has voice range for ages and incredible voice strength and tone and is a true rising STAR!

One of the 3 best female vocalist are not there wow. Where are Floor Jansen the lead singer of Nightwish? Maybe the best female talent, she can sing opere, metal, groal, pop, slow with emotion and one of the best power for voice
reply

Um Amy Lee 100%. She had/has one of the best female voices ever. Like full stop. And she deserves to be a huge mega star still. But weather by her choice or otherwise she's been more subdued in the music industry thus past decade or so

The most underrated female vocalist on the planet without doubt is Morissette Amon. Extremely popular in Asia but very little exposure in the west. She is easily the best female vocalist on the planet at the moment.
reply

I disagree with some of these, as in what universe are Lady Gaga and Demi Lovato underrated, they're both ubiquitous in the modern media. And what about P! nk, Alicia Keys, Christina Perri, Kelly Rowland and Sia?
reply

As a true contralto, this is a slap to the face with all these mezzo sopranos in here with no mentions of true deep voiced females. Do more research. Tracy Chapman, toni Braxton, pink etc.
reply

Here are some other female singers who are underrated and dont get enough credit. Mandy Moore, Natasha Bedingfield, Joss Stone, Taylor Dayne, Ashanti, Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch.
reply

I really don't get why Jessie J wasn't more popular. She has a vocal range better than Ariana Grande, lyrics better than Katy Perry and is also extremely good looking.
reply

Number one: every woman who sings so much better than every star today but will never reach the masses because they arent charismatic or beautiful, and cant dance.
reply

What about literally every female metal vocalist? Angela Gossow, Brittney Slayes, Tarja Turunen, Floor Jansen, Alissa White-Gluz. the list goes on and on.
reply

Literally everyone on this list is known of everyone lmaoo, if you wanna talk about UNDERRATED checkout Lara Fabian, one of the best vocalists ever ( top 3.
reply

Don't you think there is an issue that majority of the singers were around the last 10years? Like. Literally not one person mentioned from before 2000.
reply

Sohyang.
Can give prime Mariah a run for her money.
The fact that you haven't even heard her name before means she's criminally underrated.

reply

Jessie j, demi lovato, and tori Kelly almost sounds the same. The one with the most unique sound in the list, so far, is Florence Welch
reply

When I saw gaga at 4 especially higher than demi and Nicole I realized they have gone too far and when seeing no Emile, Janelle, pink!
reply

Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga are NOT underrated. Kelly Rowland, Susan Boyle and Laura Pausini should take their place.
reply

Where is Melanie Martinez i mean so many people ignore her because they find her creepy but she is a very talented singer
reply

Omg Miley Cyrus is soooo damn slept on a lot of people like her music but dont realize how much of a great vocalist she is
reply

Come on MOJO, what about the SLAYER, Ms. Haley Reinhart, the greatest vocalist on the planet and so underated.
reply

It's weird lady gaga is on here. Is she really underrated? Thought her vocal talents were widely known lol
reply

And Miss Amber Riley? she sings more than everyone else on this list (except Jessie) but has no recognition
reply

Floor Jansen is the most underrated vocalist EVER. Good enough to challenge the best singers of all time.
reply

Florence and The Machine was one of the best, if not the best, concerts I have been to in my life. Amazing!
