msmojo many speculate a new take on Cruella can happen, a sequel has been greenlit.
It might have underperformed in some ways financially. But given were still in the pandemic. Disney views it as a success none the less, I think we only get the theatrical gross, and not the Disney premier purchase numbers.
But someone said Watch the Baroness frame Cruella and given the age demographic and what we know that only a few people know that the Baroness was framed for a murder.
And that Cruella is her daughter.
Many speculate she will become the puppy killer, in order to frame Cruella.
And it makes sense on a fresh spin.
And revenge is what the Baroness is hell bent on, due to the fact her own daughter actually ended up being her down fall.

I have never seen Cruella but I have seen Maleficent, and I thought the movie was not that great, yes the special effects were beautiful but the story was not. The message seemed to glorify the evil Maleficent. And i hated what happened to the three fairies, instead of being kind and good they are selfish and whinny. Maleficent says at the end of the movie that the prophecy was fulfilled by one who was both hero and villian. This can be easily confused because it sounds like the villain part of her helped unite the worlds. Evil does not unite anything it only drives people apart. And she also mentioned that the prophecy was not fulfilled by a villain or a hero, indicating that villainy was an option.

Remembering all the girls wanting to go as Harley Q for Halloween i was thinking naaa Cruella! i love the fine line between the bad, mad and good she portrays and from what she went through we can all go Yep i get it, i definitely get it. And common who doesn't love that Dalmatian Coat? and to see the look on the Baroness' face who was both impressed and pissed at the same time was epic. She killed my dogs. and made a 'coat'! EPIC i say. Plus she never did, but was just wicked enough to let people think she did, lol. tbh i want that coat. So my vote? Cruella hands down. .but of course darling. Plus a freaking awesome sound track that just. fits. sings Now i want to be a dog.

I personally would give Maleficent the point for supporting characters.
For Maleficent,
Diaval was just great. It just felt more fleshed out. His interaction with Maleficent and Aurora were great. Stefan was also good, his development was pretty good, from being innocent to selfish. Even the 3 fairies were annoying but good enough.
For Cruella,
Jasper and Horace were just not good enough for me. I felt like Horace atleast had a character trait, while Jasper was like, Hey, I'm in the movie. Artie had the most potential in it, but he was not well executed.

I liked Maleficent more, not that Cruella wasn't great, but I did enjoy Maleficent as hero and villain, her backstory that involved King Stephan and giving her a reason to get revenge on him. I enjoyed the sequel too, but the first movie was better. Cruella's good too with giving a backstory to a young Cruella, I also enjoyed the OUAT version of Cruella, not so much Maleficent in terms of OUAT. I think the acting was superb in Maleficent. I also enjoyed true love's kiss and how rather than the prince saving the princess, her godmother/mother did.

Both movies are amazing. Each one in their own way. Disney Has made incredible good choices with Jolie and Stone for the main characters. They gave us a brand new way to see those amazing characters. Personally, I prefer Maleficent because I think her backstory is better, more tragic. And it happens a lot in the real life. Like being betrayed by someone you loved. However, I must say that the message from Cruella that is not because you and someone are blood related that you are family was really good as well.

Nothing and i mean nothing can compete wth maleficent, NOT cruella, Not harley quinn. Maleficent from the begining to the end is absouletly amazing. Maleficent the movie is a classic, it gonna take a lot of new editing skill of power to beat Maleicent. If u wanna try and beat it U best come with a whole lot more than editing. U better come with the power of editing to beat it. Maleficent is iconic, classic, beautiful, and ORIGINAL. Plus it has Angelina Joeline like is there anymore things to explain

I like Maleficent but only cause of Angelina Jolie. What I dont like is that her Maleficent isnt living up to her true name. Shes not being the villain shes supposed to be.
Her Maleficent is not truly evil.
Cruella is better imo. I love Cruella more even though Cruella isnt as evil as she was back then. She became the villain shes supposed to be in the end.

I think the thing was with Maleficent is that they made her out to be good but misunderstood and was betrayed which made her go bad. Cruella on the other hand was always bad/trouble since she was little so it feels like more of a natural progression of her character to how she came to be without the clique good then turned bad by a traumatic event explanation.

do not agree with you. it's like comparing apples with pears. If you make a comparison. then you do it in the same category. the only think they both have together is they are ''villains''. well maybe xDD. You can do a comp. with many different cruella versions but Maleficent VS Cruella is. sorry but just wrong. :D sry for my english i m from germany xDD
reply

I disagree about the first category. I thought Emma Stone was far better than Jolie by comparison. Jolie sounded forced and awkward and like her evil was being put on whereas as Stone was naturally affected and had truly bad despite not wanting to be. Totally agree though that Cruella was a much better movie than Maleficent!

I loved Maleficent and it was truly magical. Although I feel like theres only a few things that make sense for her backstory when I look back on the original Sleeping Beauty, I feel like Cruella's backstory makes a lot more sense and can be watched before 101 dalmatians and it's like you then have the whole story together
reply

I think Cruella was a good movie and everything. I really liked, but for me nothing can beat that scene that Maleficent discovers her wings were stolen from her. Even worse by someone that she loved and trusted. I have watched Maleficent so many times that I lost count, but I can still feel her pain in that scene.
reply

Just watched Cruella. Definitely surprised how good it was. I'm betting that if(when) there's a sequel it'll stay sorta mirroring Maleficent by keeping her as more hero than villain. Likely instead of kidnapping 101 dalmatians she'll be framed and face off with a returning Baroness.
reply

I love Maleficent more than Sleeping Beauty despite loving it, because Aurora has more scenes and lines than just dancing and sleeping
With Cruella and 101 Dalmatians; is a tie because I love the actors and actresses especially the two Emma's, Joel and Paul and the fashions

My mom was a big fan of Angelina Jolie. My mom & I did watched Maleficent and its sequel. I thought Maleficent will be like from the original Sleeping Beauty movie but I saw her sad backstory made me realize that not all villains were born evil. They were created by evil.
reply

Maleficent should have one it gave a better story and tied into the original movie and cruella doesnt make sense that she gave John and Anita the dogs because why would she go after them so the story just didnt make sense or tie into the story any way
reply

I loved the movie, Cruella, but I loved Maleficent more. It bugs me that Disney didn't make a movie over Maleficent becoming pure evil yeah but I can't help but love the movie regardless. It's more so touching compared to Cruella in my opinion. :)
reply

I enjoy both, but as a whole I like Cruella more.
Based on changes to character from everyone, I take Maleficent completely separate from Sleeping Beauty. I can picture Cruella taking place in the same universe as its source material.

reply

Maleficent sucks, with the I'm the good one and I was the real crap, Cruella is good because she is evil, they try humanize her with a sad story, but the thing is that she is evil, she is the Villain she only fight and even bigger villain
reply

This was an Incredible Masterpiece for My Two Favorite Disney Favorite Live Action Disney Movie Villains. Angelia Jolie and Emma Stone both did Phenomenal Performances Making There own Take Disney Villains Terrifying and Tragic.
reply

I hated maleficent. i had high hopes but it became so incredibly sugarsweet. a villain should stay a villain that why we love them (or love to hate them)
Give me the mistress of evil from the cartoon above angelina

reply

I prefer Cruella milion times more. Maleficent would make sense only if it wasn't related to 1959, so another princess put to sleep etc.
And yes, Xianning from Mulan is far better than Maleficent too

reply

I prefer malificent, even if she turned out to be good at the end people's assumptions that she's evil and powerful made her a better villain
PS: my opinion, please dont hate!

reply

How about a better and more challenging title like Emma vs Glenn, because Angie will always be her own incomparable kick-ass person when it comes to entertainment.
reply

Maleficent was terrible in making her a tragic anti hero while corrupting King Stefan as an evil villain and the fairies as idiots. Cruella was better in every aspect
reply

Honestly if I had to chose Id say maleficent just because I like to rewatch it but I dont think I would ass much for cruella however I loved watching them both
reply

Cruella was a great movie and so was Maleficent honestly. Personally, I love Maleficent the most, in both the 1959 movie and the 2014 movie.
reply

i've seen maleficent hands down her badass emma stone only does weaker for me jolie does way better my opinion maleficent not emma stone
reply

Jolie and Stone were both perfectly cast. With Stone's age she can play Cruella for quite awhile hopefully in sequels and spinoffs.
