7: 05 Dependent on men for validation? While I normally enjoy these lists, I had to pause and say how I dont think that was a fair comment to link to this moment: for one thing, thats her father! She and her dad are bonding over their embarrassment at a ridiculous costume party (where her creepy uncle has been ogling and harassing her. Whats more shes not looking for comfort from thatinstead she laughs it off and in this moment is comforting her dad when her mother moves out and he is hurting.
Ill limit my comment to the first movie, which showed us a far better-written Bridget than the sequel. Yes, I get it: Bridget is portrayed as the woman who bought into all the rom-coms and dating guides, and shes looking for a serious boyfriend. Shes also strong enough to leave her toxic work environment and find a better job when her boss crosses the line; she doesnt let either of the men who court her get away with their snide remarks at her expense, even choosing to be alone rather than go back; and shes got a strong friend group, who all love her just as she is. She might be a bit of a mess sometimes, but shes relatable in more than a base wayher strong moments are powerful.

Bridget Jones is not the worst! Everyone in those movies is flawed because it's a comedy. She forgave her friend instantly when she inadvertently betrayed her in Tahiti. She walked away from a relationship with Cleaver after he betrayed her, and AGAIN when he asks for her back, and rejects both men when they fight over her affections. She turns him down again when he tries to seduce her under false pretenses because she is still in love with Mark. She is a supportive friend. She might be bad at her job, but honestly, so are others. And her bosses are entitled dilettantes who treat her like crap. She's supportive of her father when he is going through a rift in his marriage. I'd say at worst she is childish because she makes clueless mistakes in her life, but the point is she is a risk-taker. She is not afraid to make mistakes and work on herself to improve.

I think most of these characters are supposed to teach you a lesson through screwing up, so if the plot is well written they get backlash from their bad behaviours. Most of these characters, in fact, do learn a lesson, because thats what a protagonist does before getting what they want. Having said that, the real number one pick should be Sierra, because she didnt learn the lesson, it was the boy who apologised (for almost no reason whatsoever) so she doesnt get better, she learns nothing. On the other hand its a bit harsh adding some of the other characters to the list, since they are serving the aforementioned purpose of giving the audience a lesson.

With the Burgess movie, I think someone was going for a 'Mean Girls' type story but flubbed up the ending. The proper ending is the pasty one being abandoned by her few friends, reviled by her love-interest and slinking off in shame, having irreversibly become the very thing she claimed to hate. It would have made for a welcome film and a much needed wake-up call to many audiences who honestly feel that all conventionally attractive people are bad and all less-classically appealing people (ie, themselves) are good based purely on appearances.

The Breakfast Club is not a Rom-Com. And yes Bender is a terrible role model, but every child going through adolescence needs to watch this movie (despite its rating, which is A. It teaches a lot about parental pressure, the 'cliques' in every high school and ignorance which every tween or teenager NEEDS to learn about. Although none of the characters can be taken as role models, this movie can teach a lot to the current generation and future generations. Because teenagers' mental health is deteriorating.

I'd argue that Julianne Potter should be the #1 spot, Sierra Burgess should be 2nd and Nick Marshall from What Women Want at 3rd. the whole runtime of My Best Friend's Wedding the story is trying to get us to be on the side of a woman trying to break up a happy couple for her own selfish ends. I'd rather watch a movie about 2 people who've both been put through the wringer by someone like Julianne and figuring out how to make it work when they both feel super broken and messed up about relationships

Bella Swan is a terrible role model too. She convinces young girls that it's okay to walk in the woods alone with a dangerous man who wants to suck your blood to satisfy his. never mind, he's vampire, it shouldn't even be possible. My point is, don't listen to Bella, don't get involved with creepy, abusive, gas-lighting douches, no matter how sparkly they are, and don't take your friends for granted.

Like ninety procent of all characters in all media romances! There are so little good couples in the sense of they not only have actual chemestry and are enjoyable to whatch but actualy good role models! Only two couples jump to my mind and after those I'm left stuttering waiting for another example to come to mind. .. . Morticia/Gomez(Addams Family) and Edna/Wilbur (Hairspray)

Well most of these are why these are not good role models based on you guys opinion maybe they were not written to be PERFECT PEOPLE and sometimes thats on purpose, some of these are just characteristics of the character anyway not every person likes movies. yk thats my opinion or what I feel like is going on in this video

Gigi Phillips is an excellent role model. Shes honest, sweet, knows what she wants, and isnt afraid to go after it. If anything Mary is a terrible role model. She told Anna to pursue Ben, a married man. Sure his marriage with Janine was gonna falter at some point but Anna still destroyed their marriage.

You guys forgot the super creepy dude who kept filming his best friend's bride in their wedding, from Love Actually. And some people think that it's romantic.
Also, Polly was always a free soul, it was always Ben Stiller's character who keeps trying to settle her as a housewife.

Becca from 'Pitch Perfect' and Bridget Jones? Really? Sierra should've been higher. If she had been a man, she would've been number 1. There are so many others who are far worse. Especially in recent teen films like 'Sierra Burgess Is a Loser' and 'The Kissing Booth'.

Gigi Phillips's character was made fun of by the film's script itself. It was rather used to symbolise the hopeless romantics who waste their time waiting for prince Charming. And try to convince themselves that every guy they meet are the ' one '

Sierra is the worst, and the fact that she ends up with Jamie and forgiven by Veronica makes me mad. When the bully pretty cheerleader turns out to be the most compelling character in a teen rom com is outstanding.

OMG, Sierra Burgess. should be number 1 on this list. Very bad character and story it was so annoying. The only good thing that came out from it is the music. I had a headache after watching it.

Ummm. pretty much EVERY character in He's Just Not That Into You? No one should watch that movie. It should be considered against the Geneva Convention to force anyone to sit through that.

John Bender is not SUPPOSED to be a role model, he's the antihero of the narrative. Each character is plagued by attractive and unattractive features, portrayed as profound teenagers.

With My Best Friends Wedding, at least she saw the error in her ways and helped get the wedding back on track. She let Michael go and let him be happy. I really liked the ending

Who doesn't like movies? Umm, you apparently, and so do most of the commenters. People in movies are not supposed to be role models, they're entertainment, not a life guide.

Every single member of This Means War. They invade privacy, break and enter, stalk, lie, and she just messes with both as well, so there is not a single winner there.
