Just my opinion.
Some of these songs I wouldn't call opening songs. My definition of an opening song is if the movie began with the song, which is what Circle of Life, Bells of Notre Dame, and Wish Upon a Star does. Beauty and the Beast doesn't open with the song Belle, it opens with the origin of the Beast, so technically the movie doesn't have an opening song. And Toy Story didn't start with You've Got a Friend in Me, it started with Andy playing with his toys.
They're good songs, don't get me wrong. I just don't think they qualify as opening songs.
Just saying.
Here's my top 10.
10. Bella Note
9. Once Upon A Dream
8. Alice in Wonderland
7. The Second Star to the Right
6. Arabian Nights
5. When You Wish Upon a Star
4. Two Worlds
3. Once Upon a Time in New York City
2. Bells of Notre Dame
1. Circle of Life

I understand that Circle of Life is #1 on the list but I think that Belle is absolutely phenomenal because it's kinda cool how the opening song in a movie contains dialogue among characters unlike how Circle of Life is sung by offscreen singers but I love the pun that it brings Simbas journey full circle

my favorite's are #5 arabian nights, #4 the hunchback of notre dame, i think it really told you a lot about the movie right from the start. #3 this is halloween, #2 when you wish upon a star, it always makes me cry and i hate the movie, but this is a great disney song. #1 when will my life begin?

The fact that kala went alone to rush to Tarzans aid the moment she heard the cry, raised him as her own, took on sabor (the cheetah, and stood up to kerchak about tarzan, shes one caring mother. If the stuff I just listed doesnt qualify her, idk what does

Okay everyone, pitchforks down.
An honorable mention should at least be One Little Slip from Chicken Little. Sure, it might be a mediocre movie, but its sure an addicting song, and that guitar solo is real ear candy.

When will my life Begin - Tangled
He Lives In you- Lion King 2
Perfect - Emperors New Groove
Need to be in this list, take out Winnie the Pooh, this is Halloween and When you wish upon a Star

No doubt Circle of life deserves the top spot, but Two worlds, one family deserves higher. also, I thought Frozen would be at least an honorable mention. That intro is the best part of the movie!
reply

Bells of Notre Dame is 1000% better than Belle. Fight me.
1) Circle of Life
2) When You Wish Upon a Star
3) Bells of Notre Dame
4) You've Got A Friend in Me
5) Belle

The Hercules soundtrack might be one of my favorite Disney scores ever. Its so catchy! And I dont always like music centered movies. But I cant get enough of those muses.
reply

a very underrated opinion but, the journey from the rescuers shouldve made an appearance. Its a song that really sets the tone of the movie + may make some well with tears.
reply

I clicked on the video knowing Circle of Life would be #1. It gives me chills every time I hear it. Perfect. It's my favorite non-villain Disney song.
reply

The intro of the movie Beauty and the Beast was only the prince's story and the Tangled's one was the Eugene's story about when Gothel kidnapped Rapunzel
reply

Oscar Hammerstein said if you just get the opening number right, you can read from the phone book for two hours and the audience will enjoy it.
reply

Circle of Life sends chills up my spine every time it's played. He Lives In You hits a lot of the same feels in the sequel if you ask me.
reply

Circle of life is amazing but is it just me or should When will my life began from tangled be on the list and not in the honorable mentions
reply

Am i the only one that thinks that the bells of Notre Dame should have been way higher. And the circle of life was so predictable.
reply

I absolutely agree with with this list and I knew the Circle of life would be number 1 I absolutely love the song and the movie
reply

I was with you guys. up until you made Belle's song number 2. Eh. Two Worlds should have taken that spot. Sorry, not sorry.
reply

I like Sheryl Crows Real Gone from the beginning of Cars better than Randy Newmans Youve Got A Friend In Me. Dont ask why.
reply

Another one that keeps getting forgotten in lists: Oliver and Company - Once Upon a Time in New York City.

Is it even a question who's first? Do you know how many pets have been lift due to the lion kings popularity
